I had a very traumatic experience with this salon.

Warning to all my African American or brown/dark skin sisters, this salon is NOT catered to us or our skin tone’s despite the “tailored for all skin types” message posted all over the website and images of black models on the instagram page.

I booked an appointment weeks in advance after already doing a consultation over the phone and paying in advance via Groupon. I drove an hour out of the way to attend the appointment and when I got there the first thing that was said to me when I walked through the door was, “I cannot do the treatment on you are black black.” She then proceeded to tell me “you sounded white on the phone” but I was way too dark to be serviced. This was not the worst part though, she then said she only works on skin tones that vary from the 1-5 scale, with 1 being “white white” and 5 being “black people“ but I was outside of the shade range and “way too dark.” this was my first time ever trying to get LHR so I asked if black people or dark skin people could not get this treatment and she said “I’m not sure.” I was very uncomfortable and in utter shock by the blatant discrimination that I was experiencing in person. As I got ready to leave and she began to send me other salons that “might be a better fit” and my contact picture popped up on her iPhone, when she saw my photo she said “oh and now your picture pops up, but you still don’t look that dark here, like in person you are dark dark.” The amount of time she said I was “black, black, black” or “dark dark/ too dark“ was more than once and very unprofessional and quite frankly...
