My experience with Pete's bbq catering service in Ramona was utterly disappointing. It started off professional and friendly. Two months in advance we ordered and paid for $1,300 of bbq catering to be dropped off for 50 people at our daughter's outdoor wedding and celebration in Julian. We were really excited about the bbq food we selected to share with our guests.

The catering service was far from what was promised, with a lack of attention to detail and poor communication. The food arrived hour and a half late, and when it finally did, it was not complete with agreed amounts of food, no serving utensils or eating utensils (plates, forks, knifes, spoons). We did get one bundle of napkins. The food tasted descent, except the green salads had moldy rotted slices of cucumber throughout, inedible. Seemed like this was their first catering rodeo.

Customer service was atrocious; my inquiries about the delay and poor food quality were met with indifference and excuses. I requested to be reimbursed $300 for the inconvenience, hour and half late delivery and rotted salads. We called back twice and never heard back from Pete's bbq. How pathetic!!

Overall, this catering service not only failed to meet expectations but also left a bad taste in my mouth - and not in a metaphorical way.

Good luck if you select Pete's bbq in Ramona for your...

Very disappointing! I’m not sure what it is about this place but they ALWAYS mess up our order! I did not want to order from here today (because of past experience with the food and service we have had in the past) but my dad was craving bbq and we didn’t want to have to cook, so he suggested giving this place one more try....being that’s it’s fathers day, I let him choose. Well...they forgot all the sides my dad had ordered. I told my brother before picking up the food to check the order before leaving because of the history with them screwing up, but he didn’t. I called and asked to speak with the manager. The guy that rudely answered the phone said “I’m the manager”. I said “okay...what’s your name?” He said his name was James. I told James the situation and how frustrating it is that this is only the 3rd time we have ordered food from here, and our order has been incorrect every time. His response was “sorry we have about 100 orders a day here.” Unbelievable and super unprofessional response!! My brother said there wasn’t even anyone there when he picked up our order. The cherry on top of the cake is our brisket was burnt and not even edible. Stay away! Awful customer service! The food is not good...especially...

One word…wow. This was some of the most disappointing food I’ve had in awhile. The meat looks like it’s cut on a deli slicer it’s so thin. I think they sliced it so thin to hide the fact it’s dried out and has little flavor; the best part of the Tri Tip and Brisket sandwich was the sauce. You’ll get better Mac n Cheese from a box at home with a little doctoring.

The sandwiches should have only taken 5 minutes to make (toast the bun, scoop onions, scoop meat, drizzle sauce), but it took over 30 minutes to get the 2 sandwiches. When asking how much longer, I was told my sandwiches were being made right now (still took another 10 minutes) and the reason it was taking so long is a large order in front of me and they do a “first in first out” queue. Then, before getting my food, the person behind me got his food. I love being lied to my face in real time.

Save yourself your money & time. Just buy the sauce to-go and put it on an Arby’s sandwich…you won’t be able to tell the difference. Or if you want real BBQ, hit up Julian Beer Co or Smokin J’s in Poway. The 30 minute extra drive will be worth it once you...

We travel all over the country and make it a point to get some local food everywhere we go. We have been bummed out by getting mediocre bbq all along the south east. Man! We should have gone west! We got combo #5 so got to taste a little of everything. I think it says will feed 3 people, that is underestimating it a bit. It came in an aluminum tray and was a VERY large portion of food. And while we weren’t big fans of the ribs, all the rest was truly something to write home about. Their sides! The most unique beans I’ve had, and really flavorful. Not your store bought Cole slaw either. They actually do make it. We tried the guava drink too, that is wonderful. Just don’t open it in a car or anything. It was slightly carbonated and quickly overflowed. Even having ordered online, I still had to wait a while to get the food. But that’s ok, the place is Inside a liquor store, so just wander around and look at their unique selection. Too bad we are leaving today, because I really enjoyed this place.
