Stay away from their Beef department! Too many of the items are sold with beef turning BROWN or already brown! Their beef prices are outrageous!
While they have a Rewards program for Seniors and Military/Veterans that allows the customer to save 10% on Weis branded products, their recent OBSCENE price increases truly NEGATE any savings one would receive using the discount. And the discounts are only good on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively. One example of their INEXCUSABLE price increases can be found in their house brand orange juice (made from concentrate). Over the last year, the price has risen from $1.99 for a 64 oz. carton to $3.29, an increase of $1.30 or 39.52%. Now, I recognize inflation has been very high over the last two years due to exorbitant and irresponsible spending by the Biden Criminal Regime, but 39.52% in one year is UNCONSCIONABLE! This is nothing but unadulterated greed .
Another thing about the Weis store in Randolph is that from its opening, it has been seriously understaffed. One reason is their abysmal pay scales. They pay Part-timers the NJ state minimum wage, while Full Timers get $15 to start for the exact same job. WEIS is a family owned, NON-UNION workplace and while I am NOT a union member or overly pro-union, I am not surprised that the store is mostly staffed with Part Timers who receive the base minimum wage and NO benefits. Hey, why work at WEIS when even Aldi has been starting their PT and FT workers at $16.81 recently?
I am retired military and do most of my shopping at the Commissary at Picatinny Arsenal and only use WEIS for small purchases and then, only on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I can take advantage of the senior and Military/Veteran discounts.
Much like the ACME market in Randolph, which is even more obscenely overpriced, I am really glad I DO NOT have to do all my shopping at WEIS as doing so has become an ever more expensive proposition in an understaffed store with certain employees who need to learn manners and customer...
Read moreThe only reason I am giving three stars is because the manager I spoke with was excellent about the following situation.
Approximately two months ago I was in the store and an older gentleman from the meat department rudely asked me if I needed help. I said no thank you. He then says well you are pacing the store back and forth. Although the behavior was unnecessary, I passed it off as he may have been having a bad day. I never thought it could happen twice. Today, not the same gentlemen, but another older gentleman was coming towards me and rudely said what do you need, loudly, attracting the attention from two customers and an associate. When I spoke firmly at him he brought it down a level. Not that I need to justify myself, but I am not familiar with the store because I mostly go to Wegmans, where I can promise you, I am never treated in such a manner. Moreover, what is it any of their business. If I want to lap the store, I may do so as a paying customer. Have you ever heard of people forgetting certain items or possibly like I mentioned, not knowing where things are? If you would like to help, do so in a helping manner otherwise, mind your business. I can only imagine the lack of professionalism is why this store is incredibly slow. I can barely move through Wegman’s. Imagine having to feel uncomfortable walking back to the other side of the store because you needed something you forgot or couldn’t find, IN A GROCERY STORE, NONETHELESS! Seems absurd to me! Thank you to the...
Read moreWeis in Flanders, NJ, is a very nice supermarket. As soon as you walk in the store, you are presented with a beautifully merchandised produce section, and the merchandising is usually very specific to the season: pumpkins and apples in the fall; asparagus, tulips and spring vegetables in the spring, etc. The shelves in each department are always fully stocked, and there is a wide selection of items that you cannot find in other stores. The only downside to this store--and to Weis stores, in general--is that I have found their prices to be slightly higher than the prices in other stores. But as is the case with other stores, I think you can save a lot of money at Weis if you buy what's on sale and if you use BOTH digital coupons loaded to your Weis card AND use coupons from the Sunday paper or downloaded and printed from online. I do enjoy shopping at this Weis location, although I mostly go to the Shop Rite across the street. The advantage of shopping at this Weis location is that it's usually less crowded than the Shop Rite across the street. A&P used to provide the top-of-the-line shopping experience decades ago, but as years went on, you could never find anyone to help you in A&P. In terms of quality and freshness, I would compare Weis to A&P as it was decades ago and, fortunately, you can always find someone to help...
