Social the Salon — Local services in Readington Township

I have been seeing the owner of Social (Michelle) for a few years now. I usually get balayage highlights once or twice a year with haircuts as needed and color application for regrowth every 6 weeks. Since the Social and Markirk Salons have merged, I've been seeing Alicia for haircuts and base color maintenance. Alicia gives great haircuts and is a pro with color saturation. I recently had my first appointment with the former owner of Markirk and new co-owner of Social. (Marilena) I could not be happier with the balayage highlight service that I received from her. Marilena's application was perfect, I got the lift and blonde shade that I was looking for on my incredibly dark hair. She is a true professional, her passion really shines through her work. I love this salon. They have a wide variety of appointment times available- including nights and weekends. They carry great products. (I forgot to mention that I buy my Redken products here.) I also think that their pricing is very reasonable, especially when you compare what other salons in the area are charging. I really can't recommend this...

I was supposed to just have a trim (I have an angled bob), but the girl who did my hair ended up cutting off a few inches AND left my hair uneven on both sides. It was a disaster when she was done. All she said to me (over and over) was "I just want it to be even". I called management to complain and try to get a partial refund to get my hair fixed somewhere else, but they were extremely unaccommodating. They wanted me to come back and let them try to fix my hair. After losing about half the length of my hair to the first girl I wasn't going to let them near me with scissors. I ended up going to a place up the road and they were able to salvage the disaster.I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. It was over priced and they did an awful job. I first went to Markirk Salon when I received a terrible coloring from another salon in the area. One of the girls, Kerri, was a family friend, and she luckily was able to find a solution to my bad coloring and I left extremely happy and have been going to her ever since. I travel all the way from the Jersey Shore, and it is well worth the trip. Very trendy and beautiful salon. The ladies are all super friendly and helpful to all clients. Products are top notch and I always feel like I am getting the best treatment. ...
