WOW!! This is a tremendous place. I have been here twice — once in 2019 and now 2024 — phenomenal both times. This is the sort of place I wish I could give 6 out of 5 stars too. I’d totally give it a Michelin star in the way that originally meant a place to go out of your way to eat out — it’s worth it!

It is fun, with really eager, knowledgeable, professional staff. The chef’s were also willing to speak for a brief second to us on our way out. The decor is so cool, funky, and upscale relaxed. It is not stuff. There were kids to senior adults there.

The food — I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. Nonetheless, we couldn’t, ha! The starters: Pimento Cheese — great!! Meat board — two selections of salami and a chicken liver pâté. Edamame with a umami sauce. All the starters were so tasty.

The mains: Brussel Sprouts — goodness, the grilled sprouts with some sort of sweet chili sauce — delicious! The Mushroom Skewer — THIS! This was the unexpected MVP. Didn’t think they’d be that great! The Bison Ravioli — such a tremendous flavor — creamy, umami, earthy, and parmesan cheese. The pork chop — meaty, grilled, with some earthy, miso-like, earthy sauce. It was great. My dad literally no-lie gnawed the bone.

Desserts: we had two. The Crisp was a berry and cherry crumble sort of dish — and very good! The real winner was the sticky toffee pudding. Wow! Brown sugary, rich, spice cake flavors.

The drink: I had the PK Margarita…and then another one. It was sweet and just hit the spot.

Y’all. As a person from the south who has lived amongst good food and eaten the world over — this is a place to make a purposeful journey to if any...

Prerogative Kitchen is a one of a kind restaurant in the center of the main street in Red Lodge. The restaurant‘s modern eclectic vibe was unexpected given the laid back country vibe found in the rest of the establishments that surround it. The chalkboard menu had a wonderful selection of both meat and vegetarian options. We made our selections and placed our order at the front register. A number is assigned to us and we were sat at a table designated for larger parties. I loved that! We are a big family and there have been multiple occasions where we go to a restaurant and there will be 2 people sat on a 6 top while we have to wait. Here they had a clear sign that said reserved for large parties…Thank You! Our food came out the way we designated the selections upon ordering. We ordered the ceasar salad, pk salad, smoked trout, edamame and brussels as appetizers. Then I ordered mussels, my husband ordered the crispy tofu, my eldest son ordered the lamb sliders, my youngest son ordered the footlong hotdog and my daughter ordered the cheese ravioli. Everything was OUTSTANDING!!! The flavors were a symphony for the taste buds! Everything was prepared and presented exquisitely. We loved it here so much that we returned the next day. This time I had the footlong lobster roll, my husband stuck with the same option as the day before, my eldest and youngest son ate the bavette steak and my daughter had the kids sliders. This is, without a doubt, the epitomy of what the reference “a gem in a small...

YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS. Do yourself a favor and eat here! My husband and I eloped in Red Lodge and just so happened to find the restaurant was close to our airbnb. After a long day of flying all the way from Louisiana, we dined in the perogative and found out this isn’t just any ordinary restaurant, it’s THE restaurant. We loved it so much that all 2 days we stayed in Red Lodge, dinner was spent here. I’ll never be able to figure out how everything tasted so delicious. I can’t recommend one dish, but instead, I recommend you try everything. It is truly that good.

I also want to give a particular thank you to a certain employee who I’ll never forget. We were here on July 29th of 2022 and had a not so great experience with our waiter on both nights. He forgot almost everything we asked for. We started to get frustrated on the second night when a manager or owner stepped in and completely turned the night around for us. I wish I could remember his name, but he’s tall with dark hair. This amazing man who was extremely busy went out of his way to get our order straightened out! He was extremely kind and superb at his job. He made the place great! Thank you Perogative Kitchen, we love you and can’t wait...

First time here, my husband and I stopped in because of their interesting menu. Great food and the service was beyond amazing. Loved learning about the history. In fact, the photo here is of us sitting inside of an old oven made by Union Steel, the largest steel manufacturer in the US during WW2. Thereafter, it was known for its steel specifically in the baking industry. Union Steel shut down in the mid 90's and was operating out of Albion Michigan. Coincidentally, I just moved to Montana from Albion Michigan and ended up in Prerogative Kitchen one week after moving here and stumbled upon this gem. Random trip with no real destination and we ended up here. Serendipity. Although the history will hold a space within my mind for a while, the service will keep us coming back. Wonderful place!

Finally checked this place out for early lunch and it was a very good experience. This is an order first, self serve water, and sit urself kind of place. The food choices are wide and varied and each unique and tasty. I would say this is more of an experience rather than something you would crave. The smoked trout mousse had an excellent flavor, the lamb sliders are the star of the show, the mushrooms were delightful but a little too salty. The interior is very interesting and uniquely decorated. Each partition of the room has a different vibe and there are various styles of seating which makes things interesting. I would advise going off peak hours to give urself a chance to explore and pick how you want to dine but imagine it may not handle crowds well.
