Last week, when I noticed a little water under my water heater, I special ordered a Westinghouse hot water heater replacement. The website indicated I should have had it by January 10, but on the 10th it didn't seem to be locatable at either my Menards store (Red Wing) or at Westinghouse (where it was being shipped from). Saturday nigh (the 11th)t, the old water heater failed and I spent a couple hours wet vac'ing my basement Saturday night and Sunday morning. I printed my on-line receipt out and brought it to my local store for a refund and an in-stock replacement. I did not expect an easy transaction, but I got one. Not only was the plumbing department person terrific assistance but the woman managing the customer service desk was apologetic and took care of the credit, my replacement water heater, and the plumbing parts I'd added to my shopping list. I even got a hand loading the new water heater into my truck.
At the least, I hate plumbing work, but this job was so easy and pain-free I finished the installation by 11AM and we had hot water by noon. Thank you for the terrific service and the...

I walked the whole length of the store and there were no employees to help me. The only people I saw were cashiers and a person behind an information desk and she was of no help because she didn't know where things were. I had a large shopping list of items that I needed and no one was around to help me find them. I will take my business elsewhere. I'm sick of Menards and their lack of service.
Today (August 14, 2023) I ordered a storm door to be delivered and the wrong size was delivered to me. I called Menards and got no answer from the door department. The phone just kept on ringing. Does anybody answer phone calls there? I would hope that they would have more than one person working in that department. I now have to order another door to be delivered hoping that it is the correct size (36 and not a 34) will be delivered this time. I hope that when the delivery is made they will take the old one back and reimburse me for it including delivery since the wrong door...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA classic customer service experience at Menards... I wanted to purchase a rolling tool cabinet. The Menards website indicated they had 1 in stock. After driving to the store and speaking with an employee, I was informed that the in-stock item was the display. He told me they couldn't sell me the display and the item could only be ordered online. Although that was a bit frustrating, I understand not being willing/able to sell the display item. Upon returning home, I proceeded to order the product online for in-store pickup. About an hour later, much to my surprise, I was notified that my order was ready. When I picked up the order the next day, the employee confirmed that I had indeed received the display item I had seen the day before and had already attempted to purchase.
To quote my 3-year-old daughter who accompanied me on this adventure: "Dad, why would they not sell you this one day and then would sell you it another day? That's very confusing..."
A literal 3 year old has more customer service common sense than the team at...
