I came to Chris’s German Auto with an easy lay up for them to be heroes and they proved right away to be experts at their craft. I purchased a Porsche out of town and before driving a single mile I had a very well known independent Porsche shop in the Phoenix, AZ area (that’s been in business for 50 years) do preventative maintenance just so that I was starting off fresh with this new vehicle. The shop in Phoenix did an IMS upgrade, RMS, new clutch, spark plugs and chain rail pads and a pre-purchase inspection. We all know what that final bill looked like $$,$$$. Well they botched the job. The vehicle had small oil leaks at every single touch point. 5 leaks total. Upon getting the vehicle up here to the Seattle area, Chris’s German Auto was recommended to me by a local Porsche expert. They quickly got my vehicle in and redid all the work that was done at the Phoenix shop. (the parts were not replaced as they were new but of course they had to take everything apart again to reseal everything properly so it was in essence a complete redo of the job) Chris’s shared their findings with me on why the leaks had occurred and sadly it was simply sloppy work like not inserting seals properly. They politely shared their findings with me and also sent a note to the previous shop with a polite suggestion that the other shop should help out with the cost of the work having to be redone (which I did not expect or ask them to do. That was a very nice gesture) The problem has been resolved and I have had my Porsche in at Chris’s German Auto for a few other items like motor mount replacement and a few other small things and have all been perfect experiences. Chris’s is an established shop that does great work at a reasonable price. They are very laid back and easy to talk to, extremely knowledgeable, and the work is done right the first time. They are not going to push repairs on you but rather just let you know how things are looking and if something is wearing but not broken yet they let you know and they keep an eye on it at each service and only recommend replacement when it’s the appropriate wear level when it should be replaced. I live an hour away from their shop and I’m happy to make the drive knowing they are certainly one of the best options for Porsche maintenance in the Seattle area. Oh, and I don’t want to leave you hanging on what happened with the other shop. Unfortunately I did not receive a single penny of reimbursement from the Phoenix shop. But I won’t have to worry about that anymore with a shop like Chris’s German Auto taking care of my Porsche...
Read moreJust left this place and John was initially very nice but that changed shortly after. Took my Porsche in with a potential buyer for a pre-purchase inspection. This ran over $250 for plugging in a code reader and looking over the car on a lift, okay dealer pricey but this was accepted ahead of time.. Problem is, they misdiagnosed 3 things. They said the passenger window did not roll down properly and needed a $500 sensor. I tested it with my friend right there and it worked just fine as it always has..?? They said it needed an oil change but I explained that was just changed 2k miles ago with AMS synthetic.. So if an owner changes their oil and cannot reset the internal code then it doesn't count?? They said the waterpump was due for replacement because its over 10-20k miles old but its working as designed and not leaking...?? Lastly, when my buyer asked John for pricing for the most important items he got angry and told him to email with questions and he'll email back later on. The buyer then asked for pricing now as he wanted to purchase it today and John says "Not on my time!" and repeats this twice! We both felt pushed out of his office. Bad day? IDK but really seemed like he thought there was no more money to get and wanted us gone. Thanks a lot John,...
