I am a platinum rewards member of Hallmark and have always gotten up early on Black Friday to get the discount on ornaments, yesterday I was informed when I entered the store that everything was 25% off except the Hallmark ornaments! Needless to say I usually buy 10-15 ornaments each year and yesterday only purchased 3. It would have been nice if they had let their customers know back in July when the ornaments were put out that they would not be on sale for Black Friday, I would have purchased them a couple at a time over several months, now I will only buy the series ornaments that I need. I generally love the Hallmark cards. A few months ago I finally signed up to be a "member" or whatever their customer program is called. Today, for the first time, I wanted to take advantage of the free monthly card program. I learned 2 things that were kind of disappointing. First, the selection of free cards is minimal -- and it doesn't include birthday cards. Second, you need a coupon to get the free card. I have never received a coupon or anything else from Hallmark. It's a bit cramped but it's nice to have so many potential gifts to consider. My Mom loves Hallmark cards and this store is close to home and right by the Giant, so that's a plus. Glad Hallmark finally can accept chips in credit cards but it's silly to have to sign for a $6 purchase when most stores have a much higher threshold ($25-50).
