Forest Preserves of Cook County — Local services in River Forest

This website does not represent them well. I am being charged for being misled to believe they were open on a Sat and until 6:30 M-F. They do not inform you of the change if you have reservations with them after their changes date, prior to the day of change. This should be done just in case you need to change something. We shouldn't have to go to the website just to find out something has changed. These people downgraded my groove permit, with no refund and she they have to charge me the difference for my special use items and a late fee because of the miscommunication, misrepresentation that their PR missed and they don't seem to want to honor. Now their hours are 8-4:30. I work 8-5:30 and there seems to be no other way, well they have not communicated optional ways to share with them whatever extra paperwork and payments they require. This is some foolery! No one has spare money to spend at their expense. Now I have to take time off work and pay extra because of this. I AM HIGHLY PISSED AND DISGUSTED BY THE WHOLE ORDEAL. My family will have to think of somewhere to picnic moving forward, because I refuse to deal with this...

Some fun events held there now and then but I have two complaints.. Firstly it's quite filthy at times (trash, beggars, the smell of urine). I also had one awful experience. Taking photos of two friends, minding our own business, no one within a hundred feet of us and not making a sound. And two very irritable men who worked for the headquarters literally came and aggressively escorted us off the property and didn't give us a reason why they were doing so. We could not have been more polite to them as they did, and we left without any resistance. But to this day I still don't know why these men were so rude and hostile. If it was a matter of having a photography permit, they did not ask if we had one or tell us...
