I've dined in and ordered delivery from SH multiple times. The food doesn't wow me, but it's good enough. The fish quality isn't the best, but it doesn't make me feel bad either. It's an average sushi place. Thursday evening after running a bunch of errands we walked in at 9:30 PM for a quick bite with my partner. Being a returning customer, I'm familiar with their menu.

Now, I have this theory about Asian establishments with similar price points where they don’t care about the quality or repeat customers. Before you jump to conclusions, let me clarify that this isn't meant to be racist it’s just an observation from my experiences. It's happened far too many times, so before even entering, I checked their hours to make sure they were open and hours posted was until 10 PM. I didn't want to feel rushed or unwelcome because of previous experiences.

So, we walked in right at 9:30 PM. The hostess approached the stand, and we asked for a table for two. Her response was, "Our kitchen closes in 15 minutes." My partner quickly replied, "Okay, we'll order super fast." Then she said, "Our last seating is at 9:30." We were surprised and pointed out that it was 9:31 PM according to our phones. Her response was simply, "I'm sorry. You can order takeout."

We couldn't believe it. We replied, "It's 9:31. Are you honestly not going to seat us when your last seating is 9:30, the time we walked in? It was just one minute ago." Again, she apologized and stood firm.

In all my years of dining out, I've never been denied seating right at the cutoff time. Being in the restaurant business, this isn't how you build customer loyalty or survive. I could understand if we had walked in at, say, 9:35, but this was 9:30 on the dot.

As a business owner this is how I would rectify the situation if i didn’t want to take any more tables. As soon as someone walked in, I would let them know that we are not taking anymore tables however our kitchen is still open for take out. That’s it. You don’t tell someone that the kitchen closes in 15 thinking that we can still sit down.🪑 Be straightforward. I get it we were “those people” walking in late but there is a different way to send us off on our way. We went to Poor Phil’s and their service was excellent. Also, I just checked my uber eats and my deliveries were between $90-$190 each time. Plenty of other places in the area for sushi that I will be taking my happy self to. Bye sushi house! I’m sure you won’t survive much long with that kind...

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and I was impressed by the quality of the food. However, I had two issues with my order experience.

I had placed an online order for delivery of the Chashu Pork Ramen for myself and the Tempora Udon for my partner. The Ramen was REALLY good. This was my first time trying ramen, and I am very satisfied with my choice to try Sushi House Oak Park. I will definitely continue to get my ramen from this spot. It was very rich in flavor and very filling. The soft boiled egg had taken very well to the broth, and the pork was tender and flavorful. Loved every single drop of it.

Though I really enjoyed the Chashu Pork Ramen, I had a couple of problems with my order:

We had ordered the Tempora Udon but were delivered a Tempora Soba, instead. My partner does not hate Tempora Soba, which is why there was not much of a fuss made about it. The dish was pretty good. However, I am sure that the Tempora Udon would have been better. It is what we originally wanted.

Additionally, when the Ramen and Surprise Soba arrived it was not packaged adequately. I understand the risk of a mess and spillage when delivering soup. However, as a restaurant, if you are delivering soup I feel that you should have the best storage method that prevents these things. Once the soups had arrived, they were in bowl shaped containers that may have seemed right to transport these dishes, but it was a fail. They did wrap the containers with a plastic bags, just in case there were spills. However, does ANYBODY really want it to spill?? When I had placed the order, I had honestly thought that the containers would have tighter seals. That is the type of trust that I place in restaurants when they deliver soups.

I give this place a 4 out of 5. Again, the food was as great as I expected, based on the previous reviews I had read. My main qualm was with the delivery experience. A previous review that I had read mentioned that the delivery orders were handled very well, so there was a high expectation in this area. They lost one star because they did not...

The sushi was good. I found it a little pricy for 6 shrimp on the Diablo sushi.most come with 8 per order. You don’t get any dressings if you ask you will be charged $1 per spicy Mayo.I usually order delivery and you are better off picking up or delivery. You get free dressing and sauces and you can save on that 18% charge for family of 5.We dined in family of 3 adults and 2 toddlers so we was charged a 18% gratuity.when we received our bill it stated a less amount and once my debit card was charged the waitress then let me know I was charged 18% gratuity for family of 5 and my card was charged almost $92 at the end instead of $70 as stated on receipt. I have understanding that gratuity should be family of 6 and above. I was disappointed. Service wasn’t grate either they were busy with pick up and delivery and I had to get our waitress attention every time in order to get something else. She would walk away from table before I was even done ordering our drinks.I was literally talking to her back. Disappointed!!!!! It doesn’t state anything in receipt on gratuity charges and they don’t tell you until you have paid and your debit card has been charged so due be careful with there charges. My first receipt said $70 .I’d recommend asking before hand and when they bring you receipt make sure total is actual total. I will be filling a complaint in this matter!!!!this is very unprofessional service the food is good but service and prices and servings are unfair.I would’ve not minded but our service alone was horrible with waitress!!!!we fortunately took a picture of first receipt and we have the copy of what was charged so definitely filling a...

I don't think I've even been here before man. I'm just writing this review cause I get reward perks if I do. But I gotta make it over 200 characters or so otherwise I get a smaller perk. You know how it is, I'm sure. But anyways, I bet you're wondering why did I give it four stars if I've never been here. Well the reason is because there is no reason. I just happened to click on four stars. I suppose I could change it and make it five stars, but nope. I'm not gonna do that. It's too much work and I'm already too invested in this rating. Plus if I change it to five stars then some of the people who'd be reading this review would get really confused when they get to the part of the story about me rating it four stars and they'd be like, "but wait, he rated it five stars not four.. What's going on here?" and then they'd start questioning reality and wonder if this was just a glitch in the Matrix and proceed to go down a dark, dimly lit path that could only have been brought on if you decided to take the blue pill instead of the red pill. I don't want that on my conscience, Trinity. You know, imagine if I went through this entire spiel and I actually rated it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. That'd be embarrassing. Oh wait, now I can't remember if I chose 3 or 4 stars.. Or maybe it was 2 stars? Or maybe I just need to realize the truth that there are no stars..? Oh well, I think I must have hit 200 by now.. If you want my recommendation, go here if you're a fan of food that may or may not be edible... Yeah, that should be cover all grounds.

This place used to be my to-go sushi place but it has changed so much. I used to recommend it to everyone but not anymore. The food got dramatically worse. Their rolls used to be big and worth it but at my recent visit, they were tiny tiny and not as tasty. We also got some chicken, vegetable and noodle bowl but the veggies were nowhere to be seen besides few pieces of green onion. It had zero flavor. Had to add seasoning and sauce myself. You can literally get a much better one at any of the Chinese places you drive by. Plus the bowl the food was served was chipped in multiple places and it was not safe. As a restaurant worker myself, it is unacceptable for a place like this to serve on chipped china. Chicken tonkatsu was cold by the time it got to our table and rice was definitely cooked hours before and found many dry pieces. Our server was okay, but just okay. Didn’t really engage with us besides taking order, plus for some reason he wasn’t writing it down and was coming back to our table multiple times to confirm our picks. Overall, that was my last visit. Never coming back and do yourself a favor and find some other good sushi restaurant.

We absolutely love coming to this place! The moment we step through the door, we are greeted by the warmest and friendliest staff, making us feel right at home. Not to mention, the food here is simply outstanding. The sushi is an absolute delight, bursting with freshness and an incredible variety of flavors that are truly unique. We're thrilled that they even have special meals for kids, making it a perfect spot for the whole family. Every visit is an adventure as we eagerly explore the extensive selection of sushi rolls and other delectable dishes they offer. From classic favorites to innovative creations, there's always something new to try and savor. Trust us when we say this place is an absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy!
