When I first came to RLJ, I was truly impressed with their service. Maybe they only provide great service in sales, and that's why a simple ring exchange for a different size went from a 2 week process to just over 5 weeks. Since it was the incorrect size, I was told I would have to buy the same ring all over again. Then she backtracked and said I would just pay a restocking fee but couldn't provide me with the price. I decided to go ahead with them sending the ring out which leads to another problem. Apparently, they wait until they get enough items to ship out to save on shipping, so it took 1 1/2weeks to even ship out. I was told they would call when it came in, but after 2 weeks, I decided to stop in. Turns out there was incorrect info regarding what needed to be done, so the ring just sat at the supplier until someone finally called them. They were going to ship it so I could have it on a Saturday, but RLJ didn't want to pay the extra cost(remember this for the end of my story), so Monday was the decided day and I would get a call. Monday comes, almost closing time, no call. Now they now say Wednesday. No call on Wednesday, so I stop in and someone wrote the confirmation number for the incorrect item and they say someone else has to call me on Thursday. Store closed on Thursday. I finally get it back today, the following Wednesday, and it takes 2 people to track down my ring that wasn't put in the proper spot when it arrived. They told me that all exchanges cost $50 to cover shipping. Customers have to pay for shipping on exchanges, yet they still have to wait for enough items before they will ship anything out to save money?? They waived the fee, but regardless of that high note, I'm NEVER going back to Rochester Lapidary Jewelers for anything...
Read moreYears ago I was a teacher at Century High School and I had a student in class by the name of Adam Kirckof. I didn't know much about him other than the fact that he was a bit of a goofball that didn't take himself very seriously. He graduated and I didn't think much about him for many years. Fast forward to the fall of 2019, I happen to join CrossFit Credence and lo and behold, there was Adam taking the same class. We chatted for a bit and got caught up about what he was up to since high school and proceeded on to our workout. I had no idea that he was a jeweler until he told me during our chat. This year my wife and I are about to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary so I decided to go and pay Adam a visit and ask him about making an eternity band to give to her as a gift. I went in with an open mind and told him my request, "Can you make me a conflict-free, manufactured diamond eternity band? Here is my budget, work your magic." He said, "I got you. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll have it ready for you." I picked up this ring yesterday and my jaw it the floor. This picture does not do the ring or Adam's work justice. It is an absolute stunning piece of art. His vision and what I had in mind were totally in sync. My wife is thrilled and so am I. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. If ever you need a piece of jewelry, custom or otherwise, please go and talk to Adam at Lapidary Jewelers. You'll be glad you did. Thank you Adam and staff for everything. I'll be back...
Read moreOn 08/09/2022 I took my 1956 Rolex President watch to Rochester Lapidary Jewlers. I had just had a complete service on the watch and rebuild of the 18k band by another jewler in Miami Florida. When I got my watch back it was too loose and needed a link removed. When I took it to Rochester Lapidary to remove a link they stated they could do that for me. When I was watching the jewler via a video screen I could see him struggling to unscrew the link and really torqued on the band. When they gave the watch back to me I just put it on to check the fit. As it seemed to fit fine I paid them and left. The next day I was looking at the band and saw the link was bent badly. I took it to them and they said the watch would need to be sent to a Rolex jewler in New York for repair They didn't say who would pay for the shipping or repair. I was so angry that they had returned my watch without admitting they had bent the link and stripped the screw i had no confidence with them. I wanted to return my watch to the jewler in Miami so he could repair it. They refused to pay for that and would only pay for a Rolex jewler in New York to do it. Mike, the store manager, I assume, stayed in his office and never even came out to discuss my concerns. This jewler has no quality control since nobody even looked at the work performed by their jewler. I wouldn't let them work on a timex! Run don't walk away from...
