I went to get the book YOU by Caroline Kepnes. Their website said it was in-store, I went and could not find it so I asked a worker, the worker was very nice and said that they did not have it but could order it to which I said I don't really like online orders but he said that it would be cheaper, so I went to the front where a lady put all the info in and I went to pay in cash however they don't do cash for online stuff so they suggested a gift card transfer to which I did. I ordered it on a Saturday and they said it would take till Monday before they even started shipping (after I paid they told me that). I waiting and checked Monday only to have a email saying it was cancelled with no reason why. I called and a guy picked up couldn't find out why, i was put on hold for 7mins to have the manger pick up, he was very nice but had no real info other than a number for customer service. I called them to be put on hold saying " you are called number 1 your wait time is 1 minute " for about 8 mintues to be told they dont know why it was cancelled other than maybe they didn't carry it anymore but they said it was odd because it's a hot seller. They told me they would put the cash back on the gift card instead of getting me the book I wanted but the only problem is after they used the gift card for the order they threw it away. So then they said they would email me a gift card, I asked if they would take off the book because you can't order it to which they said they would.. I waiting for that day and half the next day and still noting, I called again only to be told their mangers are in a meeting and to wait for the online gift card an that they don't know any info about the book which is still available online also. Everyone was very nice however for a book I could have just went to other store to get instead of going through all this to be told no info and waiting on a refund that can only be used at Books a Million seems very stupid for a place called books a Million yet have no info on a best selling popular book and not giving me my money that now can only be...
Read moreThe store has a lot of selection of books and other items. I'm a practicing Pagan, and as such it's sometimes hard to find books for my religion, but this place had them and more. You could be in that store for hours. Staff that was on the floor was always checking on us, and was very friendly.
When we went to check out, we were asked if we wanted to donate some cash to send a pound of coffee to our service members, we said yes. The associate asked us if we were members. We weren't sure, so she checked and it appeared that we weren't. She then proceeded to tell us about what the membership entails and then asked if we wanted to sign up. We did.
When we were looking over our receipt later, we noticed that we were charged a membership fee. This fee was not disclosed to us when we were signing up. This is something that should be disclosed to customers up front. I work in customer service and I'm always clear to my customers what they are signing up for.
So, after we looked into it, we found out that the only way to get this refunded to us was to go back to the store that we went to, because customer service can't undo transactions done at the store level. This is frustrating as well, so we went back the next day.
As we get there to ask for the money back the associate didn't know what to do and had to get a manager. The manager came up and played on his phone and gave us cash back, minus a cancelation fee. There's nothing on their website or any where about a cancelation fee. Then, instead of refunding it back to the credit card we used he proceeded to give us cash back, again. While this was going on, the original associate excused herself to get ice and then proceeded to chit chat with her coworkers in a condescending manner. This was extremely unprofessional.
The only reason they got the second star is because of their wide...
Read moreMy father who is an older gentleman had tried ordering online and thought he had placed an order. Instead of being helpful and kind Christina wouldn’t help him with the book telling him to get the discount he had to order it online. He placed the order and she said he had to wait 15 minutes to process it. The store was practically empty. So we waited with my young daughter for a half hour. Watching Christina talk and walk around the store. My dad went to find her to ask how much longer it would be and if he could cancel the order. I hear her start screaming at him. I’m in the front of the store and they were almost all the way in the back. She’s yelling at him to get away from her and that she’s pregnant. He’s several feet away from her just asking for help and she’s screaming at him to get away calling her manager. I asked her why she was yelling at my father and she said she’s pregnant and is uncomfortable. It was so ridiculous! She shouldn’t be working in customer service. The manager talked to Christina first then came and talked to me. She was rude the entire time. She should be fired. Robin however was very calming and...
