Walking into this shop was a $1300 mistake. Take your phone to anyone else.
To sum up, bringing my phone to Cellular Repair voided my warranty, invalidated my insurance, and made the phone vulnerable to water. Mr. Soo refused to guarantee his work, would not refund his faulty screen replacement, pay for repairs, or replace the phone.
The Long Version: I had my Samsung S10+ for about a week when I dropped it and shattered the screen. I hadn't activated the insurance yet, so I knew I was going to pay out of pocket. Cellular Repair was close by and had the screen in stock, so I dropped it off there and got it back the same day.
The Samsung S10+ is IP68 Water Resistant, so I wasn't terribly concerned when I got caught in a rain storm and my phone got a little wet the weekend after I had the screen replaced. It stopped working a few hours later, from what I would later discover to be water damage to my "waterproof" phone.
After talking to Verizon and a few other repair shops, I learned that the only way this would have happened is if the replacement screen was not sealed properly. Worse, because the initial repair was done by Cellular Repair (who is not approved by Samsung for repairs), they would not do any further repairs because they would be unable to guarantee the work.
I went back to Cellular Repair, but the only response I got was, "not my fault," and "we're not a warrantied company". Since the screen was "Working correctly", it wasn't his problem. When I told him I wanted my money back for the repair, he laughed. Can't repair it, wouldn't refund the faulty screen replacement, wouldn't pay for repairs, and wouldn't replace the device.
So, now I have a very expensive broken phone, which I paid Mr. Soo $330 to fix, which is now broken more than when I took it to him. He refuses to do anything to offset the damage, and I have zero recourse to replace it because his work invalidated all of the repair or replacement options that may have been on the table before he touched it.
If I could give negative stars, I would.
While in line to discuss the damage, I listened to him pull the same stunt with another customer. Her keyboard no longer worked after her screen was replaced, and he responded "That's a software issue, I can't do anything about it." From what she said, the keyboard had worked when she brought it in, but hadn't worked since she...
Read moreIf you can avoid taking your phone here to be fixed, PLEASE DO! This guy is a scam artist. I brought my galaxy s10 plus ultra back to him 2 weeks later after he initially replaced my cracked screen for something that could have been fixed during the initial visit. As soon as I ask him to explain to me why I had to pay him again for something that should have been fixed 2 weeks prior, he all of sudden couldn't speak clear English anymore and kept saying that he thinks I dropped my phone since having it fixed the 1st time. This guy can not be trusted. On top of it all, the parts he uses are cheap parts. My screen isn't clear like it was before. I hate that I just didn't wait on the company I preferred to go to instead of...
Read more$428.00 to repair a cracked screen on a Google Pixel 6 Pro. The fingerprint reader won't work and he's like sorry man, I already glued it. Says he couldn't test it because he didn't have my pin. Beyond pissed off right now. It literally tells you the fingerprint reader is not functioning on the screen, you don't need a pin for that. Called back a week later to give them an opportunity to make this right before going to court over it. Still refused. Went to UBreakIFix and they fixed it in under 2 minutes for free. Their price to do the same replacement would have been $280 with real...
