Taqueria El Manhattan Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Rock Hill

I usually love this place and I’ve left a great review in the past. However, this time was terrible. I ordered DoorDash which was fine. The Dasher was spot on.

The food though…..I ordered the Burrito De Carbon which is wet covered with rice and guacamole salad. The Burrito was cold. Not just a little like it cooled of cold, but had been not cooked all the way cold. Even the bottom of the aluminum tray it came in was cold. The rice was not cooked all the way through and was hard. Enough so that I couldn’t even eat it after having to reheat it. Mind you, reheat it in the high school gym concessions stand it was delivered to. The guacamole salad had the end pieces of the lettuce. You know, the dirty stalk part everyone throws away.

The only way I could eat it (since there were no forks in concessions) was to break open the tortilla, mix the insides and the salad together and eat it with the chips that came with the order. I’m also disappointed having to open the burrito, I found only three, yes three pieces of chicken. That’s it. Oh, and no napkins. Come on. Who eats Mexican without getting sauce on your mouth that needs wipes.

This meal was terrible and I highly doubt I will ever order from here again. There are too many decent options for Mexican in Rock Hill to get……this. You also missed out on other order because of it. My colleagues who are here asked where I ordered from and I suggested they order from...

I have gone to el Manhattan twice in the last 3 weeks and my has it changed. We go for taco Tuesday for the .99 cent tacos and 6 dollar margs. Three weeks ago we went to the one on cherry road, I understand there is a shortage in waiters and waitress, however our waitress would take 20-25 mins to check on us for drink refills and such. We weren’t pleased. So then this week we decided to go to the one on Dave Lyle and as we were packing a whole unconsumed quesadilla the box shifted and the quesadilla landed on the floor. A waitress saw it happen and didn’t even try to assist. She just walked away. However our waiter said “if I make you another one I will charge you” what happened to customer service? Other places will have empathy and know you didn’t do it on purpose and try to make you another one or take it off the bill. So yeah we paid for a quesadilla that we didn’t even get to enjoy. Okay, when to begin? The Tortilla Chips were awesome. And that was all. The Queso con Chorizo was watery and looked like more than half the meat was just ground beef. I ordered Chicken Mole(Mole Plabano) which was a 4oz chicken breast pounded out so thin that it was leather tough. In no way was it actually simmered in the Mole sauce but just landed in the Togo container and just covered in the Mole sauce. Speaking of the Mole Sauce, it was over cooked and broken with a burnt flavor. In addition, my "meal " was supposed to come with the usual...beans, rice, tortillas, etc.. Instead, I only received an 1/8 in thin piece of chicken breast in an inch of over cooked Mole. My wife's meal was as expected, not bad but not awesome.

For the record, I'm a restaurant professional for the last 30 yrs and very rarely complain publicly, but this meal was bad enough to spur...
