On 3/26/2024 by African American employee. As an African American Woman myself, I didn't want to believe this. However, I was. I first noticed her when I was on the rice isle, then again on the isle with the noodles. I was on the phone with my sister and I mentioned it to her but we both thought it was probably coincidence. That was until I reached the self-checkout and this employee circled me several times to ensure I was entering the correct quantity of cantaloupes of my purchase. I understand we all have a job to do. I, in fact, have two successful businesses here in the city. At the time, I may not have looked the type - wearing an oversized sweatshirt, baggy jeans and hat because I'm recovering from surgery. However, you do NOT judge a person by how they look!! To test the theory, I went back with a different outfit and no hat. That employee did NOT follow me ONCE!! This type of discrimination has to stop!! THEY HAVE THE ABSOLUTELY MOST DISGUSTING BATHROOM I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE AT A GROCERY STORE!!! I went in at 8:15 A.M, to grab some Gatorade, went to use the bathroom and oh my goshhhhh!!! There was one toilet with blood on the seat and one toilet with poop smeared on the back of toilet trickling down to the floor. I complained and the young lady was super sweet and nice, she actually informed me that there was a lady who complained the day before me as well. Well let’s do the math here, a lady the day before complained and I came in the next day at 8:15 in the morning, so obviously no one cleaned the bathroom. How is the bathroom not inspected and cleaned every day!?!?! This is a store where food is handled and sold, get it together Food Lion. When I asked for them to make me a cake short notice, she said, OK we can do that without batting an eye! I was extremely shocked and grateful! The cake was absolutely beautiful. Exactly what I wanted! I am beyond pleased! I’ve asked for extra roses on birthday cakes for years and no one has done it until now! I’m so happy I don’t remember the lady who helped me! But when I do remember, I will edit this and add her name into it because she deserves a shout out! Managers listen up your lady that’s doing the decorating in the bakery…She’s doing the business!
