Let me start by saying I am reviewing the Books-A-Million website, and NOT any specific store. I pre-ordered the Brandi Carlile book "Broken Horses" nearly as soon as I heard it was coming out, as she is a favorite of mine, and the orders to Books-A-Million were supposed to be signed by her. As it turned out, we relocated our residence, and an email was sent to them, around two weeks before our relocation with our new address. The books were sent to our old post office, and they had the bright idea to forward them to our new address. Books never arrived. I communicated with an employee there, named Denise G. , who told me she would put in a replacement order for me. I was pleased with that resolution, and was fine with replacement books. a couple weeks go by, I have made sure they have the correct address, and still no books. she tells me that they were delivered. I look at the tracking, and they were delivered all right, to an address in Alabama. I am in Washington State. I let her know this, and she says that a one was inadvertently put in front of my new address, so they were delivered to the wrong place. I was still patient, knowing we are in a different world 'customer service' wise, because of the pandemic. Once again, she stated she would put in another replacement order. ANOTHER two weeks go by, and still, no books. I reach out to her ONE MORE TIME, and get the response from her, 'Your books got lost, and we do not know where they are. Your purchase price has been refunded. I told her I still wanted the books, and she told me they were gone, and they were unable to get any more. Moral to the story: Order your signed books through...
Read moreHi I usually only go and rant about bad experiences because those are usually the most memorable, but I had very fortunate experience of dealing with keira over the phone and although it might not seem very big it was. Here is the great thing that her and the other young lady made possible on the 4th of November. My daughters want nothing more than these Hatchnimal toys that are sold out EVERYWHERE in NYC see im in the Hamptons in NY a 180 mile 3 hour drive from where you are located she advised me that there were 2 available and held them for me a couple of hours until my sister who is Doctor at Morristown medical center was able to pick them up. She could of told me no we don’t have it as it showed online she could of not looked she could of just been like most other salesperson in any other store and not went above and beyond. see the thing is when my daughters open up these gifts for Christmas I want to make sure she know that she made that happen that her efforts where not in vain and I will always thank her deeply even if I don’t have a face to the name. Kuddos to her and happy Holidays!...
Read moreVery nice alternative to the BIG, GIANT sized bookstores. The one at Rockaway Town Square was the 1st I've heard of or seen. It is laid out nicely and the staff is polite, knowledgeable and very helpful...always helpful with a smile, a please and a thank you. It's a pleasure doing business at places like as this. Funny, I went in with a couple of specific titles in mind and ended up leaving with 8! Wish there was a store nearer to where I live...on 2nd thought...maybe better that I have to drive 30 miles to get there...if too close, my home may end up looking like our local Library! I did order online...a small paperback...arrived bent with corner damage (minor but should NOT be there) packaged in a cardboard "sleeve"...it's a paperback...make your packaging more secure/stronger...more resistant to bends and damage no matter how minor. When you pay for something NEW...condition should be perfect. We'll see on...
