The Fly Trap — Local services in Rockport

The Fly Trap is great - Like no other fly shop you've ever been to.

The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is that you're made welcome. And the feeling is genuine.

While visiting Rockport for about 5 weeks, I met more people at The Fly Trap than I did anywhere else - and months later, we're all still keeping in touch. It is a really good group of people you'll see and meet there. Male, female, new to fly fishing, or an expert with a lifetime's worth of stories... Everybody is the same here... Just good people enjoying the waters.

Coincidentally, the shop also sells a solid variety of productive flies for the area... along with the knowledge to use them. They have everything you need to get on the water. Fly tying material.. they do not skimp out on quality there. It's just a really solid shop altogether.

If you're in the area and needing some gear, some knowledge and/or conversation... This is the shop. Intimidated at other places - Fowler and Joe are some some of the welcoming people you'll ever meet.

November 2021: I take it back. Totally different vibe six months later. Very much enjoyed the vibe and the product selection. They are figuring it out! Nice turn around boys.

July 2021Hoped for more. More something! Anything. everything was kinda... ehh. I wanted to buy but couldn't make myself do it. All the flies are easily tied on your own. No flies to learn from. Just some dudes sitting around in their own trash, literal trash on the sofa. Talking about fish they missed, flies they almost had hits on, and just less than good all around. I want fly shops in Rockport! Pick your game up fly trap.

Go see Dave at swans landing until these dudes figure out that when people walk into a fly shop they are fly fisherman who want to buy something. Get up of the couch and interact. If you stay on the couch watching YouTube videos I don't give you...
