Brian was the staff member who took my to-go order over the phone and he was very helpful and courteous. He quoted the pickup time accurately and was finishing up with my order when I arrived. The cheesesteak egg rolls (appetizer) came with a sweet & tangy dipping sauce, were packed with flavor and the meat was tender. My wife got the chicken penne pesto, which had a lovely aroma and flavor. The dish was well balanced between the savory garlic & brightness of the herbs. The chicken was grilled with just the right hint of char and was juicy & nicely seasoned. Brian recommended pairing it with garlic pita bread, which was a nice addition. I ordered one of the specials that day, a filet of grouper that was clearly fresh and cooked with a deft hand. The fish itself was delicate in texture, and was seasoned perfectly to accentuate the mild inherent flavor but not overpower it. I paired it with the garlic mashed potatoes (perfect consistency and flavor) and green beans, which were a delight with fresh flavor and a pleasantly crisp texture. We had the creme brulee dessert which came with blueberries and sliced strawberries, and was absolutely heavenly! It was sweet but not too rich, and the crunch and flavor of the bruleed topping was perfect! It was also just the right size for two people sharing. Atmosphere was very inviting. The decor was classy but with character. There was a small stage where a live musician was setting up to perform (hence the name: The Groove) which I wish we could've stayed to enjoy! We will absolutely dine here again next time we're in town! Every aspect was superb! Of note: Since we were visiting and not familiar with the area, I had called a few other restaurants trying to place an order on a Saturday night. One never answered, one was unable to fill to-go orders due to low staffing, and another quoted me an hour and fifteen minutes! The folks at The Groove are efficiently running a quality business and were happy to receive our order and had it ready within 25-30 minutes! They even offer a discount for...
Read moreGreat place, Hurricane survivor. Visiting Rockport from AZ. Went with daughter for lunch, she had pizza & I had grilled cheese & mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious! The server was tall dark & handsome & great at his job! Returned for dinner, with picky eaters, a couple days later & we all got the spaghetti which took a couple bites to learn to enjoy but was tasty afterall, to most of us but repulsive to one in our party. The server that night kinda sucked & didnt at all pick up or hear any of the hints that someone wasnt enjoying their dinner. The server just seemed like he didn't know where he was or what he should be doing. Like my dad asked him 'Can I get some water to wash this down?' with a disgusted face & the server didn't get it. While I didnt hate the spaghetti, the marinara could use some improvement, like it could be thicker & tastier. The bread served with it is amazing but they dont give you enough! The place is SUPER small inside but they have a lovely patio which they weren't utilizing at the end of July for some reason & they really should be using it. Hopefully its open now! I give 4 stars because the server the 2nd time wasnt so great, spaghetti was ok, the patio was closed & it is really close seating inside. All in all I recommend. Read moreCute place. Only enough parking for staff...not kidding, you get towed next door so be warned. Ambiance quite nice. Staff was very nice. Now for the food...the roasted brie plate was delicious. I had shrimp broquett (7 pieces, an odd number for 2 skewers, maybe they ran out), it was overcooked and therefore a bit rubbery... and burnt, the char flavor ruined the meal. If cooked right im sure it would have been lovely, the asparagus was very good. Friend had tuna, requested well done and it looked barely medium, but she said it was ok, but would not order again. Other friend had spaghetti marinara, she said it was good. We thought about getting pizza to go and asked to try the sauce. It was very vey very sweet. Some make their sauce with sugar, they might and may have used too much. We decided to not get any to go. This place is expensive. In my opinion the quality of our food was not comparable to the cost. It was 120 for the food listed above and 2 glasses of wine, the wine was excellent btw. I'd go back for a glass of wine and the brie plate prior to going somewhere else for dinner just for the ambiance to unwind. For now, I think I'd pass on going back here again for a full meal unless friends really really want to go there. Thats my experience, hope yours is...
