I have mailed my packages at the Rockville Post Office for four years. The clerks are professional and happy to help. Most of the clerks at the counter know me since I mail packages often, not to mention I am friendly and ask how they are doing while they weigh and measure my packages. This location has a new Post Master that is always willing to help in the front and back.
I rarely write reviews, but I noticed the low reviews which are mainly from people that are unhappy which means that those of us that are happy with the Postal employees are not bothering to write reviews. I stand in line more often than an average person to mail packages. During holiday months, I am in long lines almost daily mailing items. I have not seen nor experienced any of the incidents people report. I am not saying they do not happen, but just that in all the times I stand in line to mail packages the Postal Service employees are helpful to everyone in line. The Post Masters and clerks are always helping fill out paper work, being professional as they try to get everyone through the line as quickly as possible, and helping people use the self service.
Be nice to the Postal employees, their job is harder than it appears and they work long hours. Just because someone has one bad experience does not mean it is that way all the time. Everyone has bad days. There are two sides to every story so flip the coin and try to think about what it is like to serve yourself. I wouldn't want to to be on the other side of the counter to serve...
Read moreMy first time going to this post office and it'll definitely be my last.
It was my first time mailing an international priority package so I was unsure of how to attach the customs form to the package. Rather than assist and provide guidance, the post office clerk rolled her eyes and didn't speak a word trying to put me on the spot for a good half minute. After finally handing me some scissors and giving curt instructions, she assumed the package was prepaid and took it and handed me a receipt, despite my insistence that postage still needed to be paid.
I returned back in line knowing the package was improperly handled and yet again, the clerk with attitude replies, "what do you want?" I try to explain the situation and she continually insists that the form says "no postage necessary" when in fact that was not the case. I tell her to check the label again and it clearly says postage is necessary.
Instead of apologizing for her mistake, she proceeds to tell me I should have just paid for it online with the form. If I was given that option online I would've done it already and avoided dealing with her from the start! She then questioned me and said, "well why didn't you bring this up earlier?"
At that point I didn't even bother arguing. Last I checked, I wasn't the one working at the post office who's supposed to have knowledge on how to handle international packages and forms. In any case, the postage was finally correctly attached and I hope to never deal with her...
Read moreUPDATE: 10/01/23: Today I received a package by USPS from Amazon that was delivered to the garage door. I only discovered this because I was pulling my lawn mower out of the garage which I use as a shed. It was clearly visible from the street and could have resulted in a theft. It was not heavy and saved the carrier probably only 20 additional steps from the driveway to the porch. The carriers at this station almost never manage to put the mail all the way into the oversized locking mailbox, still, but leave it out, subject to theft and weather. Just a bunch of overpaid clowns who take no pride in performance.
The mail carriers on this route rank among the country's worst, still. After 7-8 years of misdirected and/or lost mail deliveries after sunset, I thought they had gotten it together, but NO. Today, USPS First Class Mail had a tracking note stating a parcel was unable to be delivered due to animal interference. What that meant was that the sissy was afraid to walk past the window 8 feet away from the sidewalk to place a parcel on top of the mailbox, or it was a lie. The dog does not have opposable thumbs and cannot manage both doors AND the deadbolt. He/she (because it's a different person EVERY day) did manage to leave a couple of new bills hanging out of the mail flap of my locking mailbox, though, as happened yesterday also. Apparently we're back to business as...
