Please do not take your pets here. They don't care. I took my cat here because he was lethargic and vomiting. They did an x-ray and based off of one test they said that he had swallowed fabric and needed surgery immediately. I feel like they were not transparent with us because they should have told us it was way more serious than that just based off of the blood work that I hope was done before the surgery and not after the surgery. My baby's liver was severely diseased. With that knowledge they would have known that his clotting factors were basically non-existent. They did surgery anyways. When we were told to come and pick up our cat, it was 30 minutes after they were done with surgery and 5 minutes before the clinic closed. My cat was not doing good. He was very obviously in distress. The vet showed us the pictures of the surgery that she took on her phone and as she was flipping through the pictures, a selfie of her in the OR with my sick cat in the background showed. Taking photos of your patients in the condition my baby was in is disgusting in and of itself, but if you knew you'd be showing me photos of his liver and other organs, why wouldn't you try to hide your selfie?? Unprofessional to say the least. When it came time to decide if my cat would be okay to be monitored at home or if he should go to an emergency vet (because, again, this was closing time at the clinic and everybody wanted to go home ASAP even though their last patient was in complete distress), they were wishy washy on what we should do. My cat started to wake up a little and was disoriented and tried to jump off the table, but the vet caught him by using her hip and essentially pinned him between her and the table at the exact sight of the surgery. It was decided that we should take my cat to the emergency vet to be monitored. The vet said that she called the ER and let them know we were coming and told them the story. I saw the vet leaving the clinic with a smile on her face before we even drove out of the parking lot. When we got there, the vet and staff did not know what had happened. Didn't even receive an operative report or x-rays. And the vet who did the surgery was unable to be reached. I left a voicemail that night for her - 2 days later and I still have not even been contacted by them. My cat passed away not even 3 hours after leaving the vet, after his surgery. He got very sick, very fast. There was blood building up in his abdomen (remember when he got pinned against the table by the vet and how he doesn't have any clotting factors), his temperature was dangerously low, heart was going in to a ventricular rhythm, he was comatose, and his lactic acid was lethally high. If lake street animal hospital vets weren't so concerned about themselves, money, and going home, maybe my baby would still be here. He would still be sick, perhaps not as severely. We're supposed to get results of his biopsy today - let's see if we even get contacted for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI started coming to Lake Street Animal Hospital when I followed my amazingly wonderful groomer, Molly, after Jimminy Clippers had closed. First off, the staff at LSAH is so kind every single time I drop my boys off for a groom. I haven't had much interaction with their staff outside of the ladies at the front desk, but, they are always so welcoming and kind. So I can only imagine the rest of the staff is the same way! : )
But, Miss Molly, I can't say enough about this woman right here, SIMPLY THE BEST EVER!! I drive roughly 25 minutes one way to LSAH and I would follow her wherever she was grooming from!! She has treated my fur babies like family since day one. She has been grooming my 3 dogs (well now 2, Bella crossed the rainbow bridge July 2022) for many years. One of my senior dogs, Bella (Pomeranian), required extra care because she would twitch a lot and her little peanut head was crooked from several strokes. Bella would get sleepy easily and Molly would do anything to make sure she was comfortable. Including grooming her from her lap and taking as many breaks as she needed to when Bella's health issues were flaring up. Bella would literally fall asleep in her lap because she was so comfortable with Molly. Talk about treating fur babies as her own family.

I was excited to be back but was surprised to find how rude and disrespectful the people are. I went in for a wellness exam only for my dog to leave worse than when I came in. The vets took my puppy to the backroom and tried to take some blood work and in an attempt to calm the puppy down, gave him some treats, these treats later gave my puppy diarrhea. They were unsuccessful and I heard from the other room loud, blood-curling screams that made me very worried. No one came to me to assure me that everything was alright. I was left wondering what was wrong. When the vet arrives back in the room, I am told that my puppy "has a behavior problem". Completely unprofessional and sad. When my puppy came back in the room he reeked like urine. They told me how my puppy "peed on himself and rolled around in it." and that they were unable to do any testing. The vet told me how they tried to muzzle him and strap him down but now my puppy is TERRIFIED of the vet. Absolutely no patience and aggressive handling of my puppy. I am deeply saddened and upset. They told me how next time my dog comes there he should be heavily sedated so that he can behave. No cleaning was offered, I had to ask for towels to wipe the urine with. When I walked up to the counter I told the lady that no testing was done because they refused to work with my puppy. She then proceeded to walk away and come back telling me that I owed them $54 for a blood test. Confused, and with an extremely distraught puppy I decided to pay because I felt within the chaos I must have misheard the vet telling me that no testing was done. I was told that I would be called for results later that day. This was last week and still no call for what the blood tests results were. Seems like they charged me $54 for a towel. After leaving me to clean up the mess. I had to drive home with a urine soaked, traumatized little puppy. Words cannot describe how upset I am. WILL NOT...
