If I could give zero stars, I ABSOLUTELY would! My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Chicago, and we called Atmosphere to see if they could do a couple of tattoos for us. They told us to be there at 8:00 p.m., but by the time we were called back it was well after 10:00 p.m. We went through several templates of my tattoo design, trying to make sure that it was the correct size. Vito, the owner of the shop did my tattoo. He seemed pleasant while he was working with me.
When we got back to the hotel I unwrapped the tattoo as I was instructed to do. Only then did I notice that Vito had spelled "Forty-one" incorrectly. I was so upset that I was practically in tears, but it was after midnight, and too late to do anything about it at that point. The next afternoon my boyfriend and I went back to the tattoo shop to talk to Vito. We pulled him aside so that we weren't confronting him in front of his staff. First, he was confused because he thought that he had spelled "Forty-one" correctly (there is no "u" in the correct spelling). When we asked for a refund, since we are obviously going to have to get it fixed, his response was offering $100.00 because it was "money out of his pocket". What about the money out of our pocket?! Both for the initial tattoo, and the money it will cost us to fix it?? When I pointed out to him that it was his professional responsibility to ensure that he was spelling words correctly PRIOR to placing them permanently onto someone's body, he took no responsibility and said that I should have double-checked his work. He never even apologized. The final resolution was me leaving upset, and him giving us $150.00 of our money back after telling me that if I wanted to remove the "u" letter from my tattoo, I should just pick at it as it scabs. That is TERRIBLE advice.
I am sure that others have had good experiences at Atmosphere, but for me, this was one of those horror stories that you see on the internet... All "regerts"!!!
Update: Atmosphere has responded to my review and I would like to respond to that comment. Vito never apologized once, let alone twice. Vito didn't offer to refund $150, we had to make several requests to get him to come up that high in the refund and he did so begrudgingly. Vito didn't offer to fix my tattoo for free; his comment was, "I would if you lived here." Call that an offer if you want, I guess I'll let you make what you want out of that. If it is "first come, first serve", why did you tell us to be there at 8? Sounds like an appointment to me. Again, it is his professional responsibility to make sure that he knows how to spell words PRIOR to tattooing them on someone.
What I have learned here is that they are willing to say whatever is necessary to not take responsibility and have no...
Read moreI’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with several incredible artists at this location for both tattoos and piercings. I came to this shop in a really dark time emotionally in my life, and wanted to feel some well deserved pain. My first visit was somewhat spontaneous—I came in hoping to get a Medusa piercing on short notice, and not long after, I decided I wanted a tattoo to honor my daughter, whom I tragically lost. That’s when I met Zeus.
I was so nervous about the consultation, but Zeus immediately made me feel at ease. He took my concept and turned it into something truly beautiful—something meaningful that I now carry close to my heart every day. Since then, we’ve also worked on a long-awaited coverup tattoo that I’d been wanting for years, and we incorporated a stunning Medusa design into it. Both pieces are deeply personal, and I’m incredibly grateful to Zeus for bringing them to life.
Beyond being a highly skilled and creative artist, Zeus is one of the most compassionate people I’ve met. He listens without judgment, makes you feel heard and understood, and creates a safe, welcoming space every time you sit in his chair. Our sessions are always a blast—full of laughter, stories, and him torturing me with comedy movies while telling me to sit still and not move🤣. I genuinely enjoy working with him and have plans for many more pieces in the future. He’s professional, consistent, and often offers great deals for returning clients—something I really appreciate. His pricing for the amazing art he does is ABSOLUTELY reasonable.
Zeus is also mentoring an incredibly talented artist named Mark (Jetli on Instagram), who has recently started tattooing on his own. Mark has a ton of potential, a great sense of humor, and a professional approach that makes working with him easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend giving him a chance—you won’t be disappointed.
Claire is another standout artist at this shop, known for their beautiful, vibrant watercolor-style work. Claire and Mark recently collaborated on a piece to honor my cousin who passed away, and I couldn’t be more in love with the result.
I’m so glad I chose this location over the Schaumburg one—this shop truly lives up to the Atmosphere name. If you’re looking for a chill, welcoming environment filled with genuine, talented people who care about their craft and their clients, this is 100% the place to go. You’ll walk away with incredible art and an even better experience. Promise!

Read moreI have been to this location twice and I am beyond impressed with the cleanliness and diversity of professionals. Each time I went I specifically had my tattoos done by Zeus who is beyond professional, understanding, communicative, and artistic. I first discovered Zeus from the yearly tattoo convention that occurs in Chicago although I wasn’t able to go but I saw his work on the website and began following him on Instagram. From there I was impressed with his quality tattoos, designs he creates, and videos he makes. I noticed he was doing deals and as a Ph.D. student with a fixed income I knew this was my opportunity to get a new tattoo. The original date was cancelled as something came up but I was not bothered by it he offered an additional deal for future session which I did not mind at all as I like to be fully tattooed eventually. Anyways, both of the tattoos I got were originally designs Zeus created. I just want tattoos and I find it easier if artists have designs that I can select. The sessions were about 8-10 hours. I was able to take as many breaks as needed, typically after two hours I take a break. Anyways, Zeus is a down to earth person and we would chat here and there throughout the sessions. I actually got the second tattoo as a deal as he sometimes has them so definitely works out for me. For one of them I used Affirm which was a smooth process to get situated the other I used cash. Overall, I highly recommend coming to this location and working with Zeus as you will not be disappointed. I do hope to one day pay for a full price tattoo as he definitely deserves it with how detail he is even when he does deals but of course I’ll still be on the lookout for those deals. Thanks...
