Attended their New Year’s Eve 2024-25 event and had a less than decent experience. The aspect that I didn’t appreciate was that it seemed like they weren’t prepared for their NYE event leading to a sub-par dining experience. Upon our arrival we allegedly had an hour of open bar to which when we ordered, my husband was expected to pay extra for ordering a “Sambuca” because it wasn’t included in the open bar. In other words, it wasn’t an open bar. They should’ve notified what was part of the package in advance. Moving on to food. My husband and I ordered calamari for our antipasti which were literally only 2 fried squid rings per person a little bigger than a quarter, very disappointing. Next was the Caesar Salad which was rather enjoyable, however the portion was extremely small much like the calamari. The pasta came next, the orichiette was enjoyable followed by the cavatelli which was cold, extremely salty, and when we told our server and tried to return it to see if we could instead receive another serving of orichiette she took it back but said couldn’t offer us anything else to replace the dish. Next we got a choice of the Arangosta (“lobster”) which was very mushy, not “broiled to perfection.” We left the potato alone. Another disappointing dish. Last, our dessert was a slice of Panettone with whipped cream which really didn’t have anything wrong with it, however it seemed to be bought vs homemade. After dessert we paid our bill and left. We didn’t stay for “open dinner bar 9:00pm - 11:00pm” or for the “midnight Champagne.” Package was $125.00 PER PERSON tax and tip not included. We left a tip because our server wasn’t at fault and tried to help us out but it seemed management didn’t even try to show any form of hospitality. The “entertainment” turned out to be a man celebrating his wife’s birthday taking pictures with his family and eating most of the time. The only thing he did was make a playlist on his phone and plug it into the restaurant’s sound system. Seemed like this establishment just wanted our money. This was truly a disappointing end to our 2024, we left still hungry, not satisfied, and hope that this restaurant makes a turn for the better in 2025. Their normal menu seems ok, it has good reviews, but last night was not a good experience...
Read moreMy wife and I were hoping this could become our new local "go-to" after recently moving to Bloomingdale and we had extremely high hopes after reading such great reviews. However, we were unpleasantly surprised with how disappointing this restaurant was after visiting. When making my reservation I was asked if we would be celebrating a special occasion during our visit. I thought this was very nice to ask since yes, we would be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. Not one time during our visit was a single thing mentioned about our anniversary, so why even ask to begin with. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night which is to be expected and we were finally seated for our 730pm reservation at 747pm. A party of 4 standing in the entrance when we got there at 728pm still had yet to be seated for their 7pm reservation and decided to just leave. My wife and I ended up being seated in the upstairs area which felt like it wasn't even part of the restaurant. The live entertainment was just bad and much too loud so we were actually happy at that point to have been seated away from the noise since we wanted to have a quiet, romantic night. This is not the place for that. We were the youngest people there by far. Definitely an over 60 crowd here. We ordered an appetizer which arrived quickly and was pretty good. We then ordered our meals, after flagging down our waitress. Then we waited... and waited... and waited for an hour and 15 minutes for our PASTA to arrive. Yes, just pasta. No special requests or dietary restrictions, just noodles with sauce. Which ended up not even being that good at all or worth the wait. I make better homemade sauce in my home kitchen, and I'm Polish. Our waitress never once came to our table in the over an hour it took to get our food to even give us an update about why it was taking so long. Unfortunately, we will not visit here again, which we were actually quite bummed about after having...
Read moreThis was my first time going to Villagio Ristorante! I wanted something other than Olive Garden.
My experience: i felt like I was at an Italians house. VR makes sure you eat and eat well. Our waitress, Melissa, was super kind and fun. We had two different kinds of bread with its condiments, an awesome appetizer, then they randomly gave us italian ice for our palette's (we were overjoyed and my little cousin from Chicago thought it was cool). Afterwards, here comes the food. There were 4 of us...we ALL enjoyed every last bite of our food. OH and the chef came out to say hi. After our main course meal our waitress helped us take a photo. The evening wasnt over after the photo, after stuffing our face with bread, appetizer, soup/salad, italian ice, main course...here comes...DESSERT! WOW they sent a lady out with an example plater of all of their desserts, so we could see what it all looked like and ask questions. Needless to say we took a few of the desserts home and one extra meal for a party member that couldn't make it. Living like an italian for one night...not over...after dessert, we got to try a sip of pineapple (sweet) and pomegranate (strong) wine. I LOVED the pineapple and my party member loved the pomegranate. It was worth trying something new. VR did not disappoint! The vibe, food and service was just off the charts. I'll be back Villagio's. You deserve a quality review!
Safety: there were a few other people in their enjoying a meal, but all of the tables were spaced out. All the staff coming in and out of the kitchen wore their masks. I noticed people picking up their food at the door also wore a mask. Only the people dinning, spaced out and talking with the people at their table didnt have masks on...which makes sense.
Thank you for a blessed and fun time!!!! You all should go to Villagio Ristorante. You won't leave...
