The short: To justify why our fresh drinks were pulled off our table even through it was in front of chairs with jackets and had covers/napkins on top of the glasses, a young bartender tried to lecture me that the drinks were fair game because, per her statement, drinks get drugged at their bar.
The context: I am a professor of business at Sierra College and wanted to speak with a manager to inform him of the poor business practice of the cleaning staff. Since bar staff is clearly not allowed to replace drinks (understandable since people lie) and it was more than hour before closing, this practice of early cleaning is not appropriate service. Of course, I was told there was not a manager on premises even though it was Friday with Karaoke downstairs and a band upstairs, so this statement his highly suspect too.
The Good: Grooveline, the band, was great; the drinks and cover are reasonably priced and of reasonable quality.
The Bad: A good night was quickly soured and made worse because staff is not properly trained and does not understand the assignment. The crowd was largely middle aged and the point of the bar is to entertain and serve. Pulling fresh drinks that should be clearly left alone was the start of the problems, but the attitude of young staff and the attempt to lecture older patrons with stories about drugging that âactually happen hereâ (per the bartender), as if to justify and defend the practice is completely tone deaf and damaging to the reputation of their employer and establishment. It was also stated that drinks left alone on a dance night with live music in the upper room with reserved tables are fair game, again seems to be a long stretch. This all happened between 11:00 and 11:30 in a full bar. At best, they pull drinks and management hides from accountability & there is a general need to better train staff, including in customer relations and promotion of the bar as a quality and safe place; at worst, they might be telling the truth, and drinks get drugged at the Opera House per the bartenderâs report and there was little concern for myself as a customer.
The conclusion: I would recommend against any person taking abuse from a server in any establishment and any place that does take such matters seriously is not worthy of patronage.
I would be happy to discuss this incident with management in...
Read moreWhat a BEAUTIFUL PLACE!! The architecture alone will make your jaw drop! Nice people. Drinks were meh.$$ 1 margarita rocks, 1 Long Island $21. We arrived to see âUnchainedâ an AMAZING Van Halen cover from the Bay Area Iâd had on my calendar for a couple months. Arriving around 7:00 wanting to get a good spot-it was our first time at The Opera House Saloon. I was personally familiar with a band member for a couple decades and usually attend any shows in the are. Actually, Iâm a veteran concert, live music attendance goer for a few decades. I know protocol. The bartender personally came to my table to let me know that when my friend returned, the upstairs was now open and we could go up. After she returned I asked him if we needed to pay the cover since we were here so early. (I just wanted to be sure) Good thing I checked! $30 for 2 people. Cool đ we climbed up the stairs (the wood work was so cool) hit the landing turn left and enter an enormous ballroom with a room length bar. The dance floor is filled with tables except upfront near the stage and all the tables are numbered with names on them as well as the few booths along the wall in back. One thing they have in common is that they say âRESERVEDâ Weâre talking 30/40 tables. Let me cut to the chase straight from above. âEveryone knows itâs like this. Itâs been this way about a year now. You need to Reserve your table ($20) in advance. They go fast. Thatâs why we have the best bands. It costs money to run a place like thisâ âOh, well thereâs no mention of that on your advertising?â âYouâre gonna be up front anyway dancing you wonât be sitting down â hahaha âI have a wrecked hip and two bad knees. Pretty sure I wonât be. âItâs cold if youâll excuse me â And that was the end. Another FU to another nobody because evidently Everyone but the two people in the photo didnât know to make reservations in advance for $20 AND pay a$30 cover. Sorry I missed the band. They enjoy playing my...
Read moreVisiting from. SoCal and haven't had a nice, live Country band, well mannered bar crowd and very friendly staff experience like this, in over 25 years.
For a quick stop in, at a spontaneously chosen location, I was super impressed and glad I took the chance.
Really brought back some of my favorite moments from the days I used to go Country dancing with friends after work. I enjoyed watching everyone have fun and singing some of my favorite songs.
Also, the ladies restroom was so "old fashioned opera house" cool. Very reminiscent of classy theatres of old. Neat!!
'Locked and Loaded' rocked the place and it was a fun getting to talk with their sound guy at my table.
I'd definitely visit the Opera House Saloon; on their country night, the next time I get out this way.
If you want clean, friendly and professional, with a fun environment, then check it out. Oh yah, reasonable prices too.
Driving 7 hours to get here stinks, so finding a place like this, is like a hidden gem, when you're stuck killing time between plans and people.
Stay safe and make...
