Good afternoon, I will make this short and to the point.
Time of visit : 11:30am - Saturday, November 12th.
Today while spending over 2 hours shopping at the Round Lake, IL Kohls location we were met with disrespect, dishonesty, hostility, and dare I say racism during our checkout process.
Myself along with my wife and child and mother in law were attempting to use coupons upon checkout just to be met with a incredibly rude and hostile lady who was named Barbara. Barbara who first told me her name was Susan when i first asked for her name because I was going to file a report. Barbara was training a new employee while she was declining our coupon use although the computer was allowing it. I am unsure of the need for her to act so rude and deny the coupons when it is clearly working. I think maybe because of the Asian decent of my mother Inlaw and language barrier is what prompted Barbara to become impatient and rude all while training a new associate who is seeing this “acceptable” behavior first hand.
I would not think this is the type of behavior that Kohls would try to impress onto their new associates from a member of leadership training staff.
Remarks were made from Barbara in front of everyone that were highly uncalled for all because we were trying to use coupons that all worked together that she did not understand.
Barbara then called over her manager who’s name I cannot recall but the manager instantly began to defend Barbara without knowing the nature of the issue at hand and also stated that the coupons will not work without even acknowledging that the computer is allowing them to work.
Keep in mind we just came from the Kohls in Gurnee,IL where all the coupons were accepted with no issues.
I could go on forever with this but moral of the story is that we spent over 2 hours in your store today just to be met with the worst experience at checkout. Left all of our merchandise at the counter and left.
I was able to purchase all the items I had in my cart online and all of the coupons worked as I expected.
With employees like that I regret to say that I can see why more people prefer to shop online and we will not be returning to this location, ever. Others will hear of this...
Read moreI’ve never had an issue with this store before, but yesterday my boyfriend and I were extremely disappointed with the service we received. My boyfriend was buying me a $30 jacket, and I had a coupon for it on my phone pulled up and ready to scan. After the cashier scanned my jacket, I asked her if she could scan the coupon. She rudely told us that we have enough money for it, so she wouldn’t be scanning the coupon. We said we knew we had enough money for it, otherwise we wouldn’t be purchasing it, but that we wanted to use the coupon to save a few dollars. She again said “You have enough money for it”. I once again politely asked her to just please scan the coupon and she absolutely refused, and was giving us an attitude about it.. no explanations other than us “having enough money for it”. My boyfriend and I didn’t feel like getting into an argument over it, so we just left without pushing the issue further. We then went to Kohl’s in Gurnee for something else that we were unable to find at this location, presented the same coupon, and the cashier there scanned it with zero hesitation. Saved us $8 on a $30 purchase. Would’ve been nice to have saved that money and not have been treated the way we were by the woman at the Round Lake location. She also left the security tag on my jacket, so now we have to make a trip back to get it removed. I have a very hard time believing her leaving it on was an accident after the way we were treated. I wish I had her name, I would be reporting her to headquarters. I’ve legitimately never been treated so disrespectfully by an associate somewhere, very rude and...
Read moreI have to admit, not all of my experiences at this location have been great but yesterday, four fantastic women made me a HUGE fan! First, there was Laura in Customer Service who helped me in the morning. I lost my $50 gift card that I purchased (probably threw it away) . I was at work when I realized this and did not have my receipt but called the store and got Nancy who was able to track down my transaction with the date, approximate time and last four of my credit card # since it was within the last week. She got the gift card # and gave me the # to the gift card division. Lynn at that division blocked THAT card but told me I had to go to the store to get a new one or wait a month for them to mail me one. I went to the store and that is where the biggest angels came into play - managers Tina Miller and Kelly Trulove. Tina had to call the corporate office to get the gift card 'flipped'. The guy she got on the phone was NOT very knowledgeable. He put her on hold multiple times, made her move from a new register to an old one and could not walk her through the process. Ultimately, the $50 balance got transferred but there was still a balance due (the register stated the card needed to be paid for). This is where Kelly came in. She called corporate AGAIN. Now they were closed. Then came the original gift card division. Next she called authorization. Needless to say, between the two of them, an hour of Tina's time (45 minutes after she was supposed to get off of work) and a half hour of Kelly's, I GOT MY GIFT CARD!!! THANK YOU LADIES, SO MUCH, FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID TO GET...
