I used to love this place. I would spend hours sorting through little things and picking out fun decorative items. I loved looking for things for my mixed media art.
I went in one day with my husband and 7 year old son. I know how they feel about children running around and touching everything. So, I sent my husband and son to look at the toys and toy cars, maybe pick one out for him to buy while I shopped around for things for our new house.
While looking in one booth I saw my son touch one toy car and there was a lady working there who witnessed it. She got very angry with my son and told my husband that if he broke it, he had to buy it. My son just touched it, he didn't break it and he was being very good, not running around.
He told her fair enough, we would certainly pay for anything should it be broken, but will be extra careful. We thought that was the end of it and told my son not to touch anything else. As I continued to shop, my husband approached me 10 minutes later to inform me that I needed to be done and leave. The same lady decided she was going to follow them through out the store to ensure my son didn't touch anything. She was hovering the whole time...I saw her scowling at them.
My husband spoke out stating he was watching him and we would pay for anything should it be broken. But, she was angry. VERY angry. I'm not sure I understand the level of anger just from him touching one plastic car. My son and husband went off to sit in the car while I made my purchases. I was going to buy more. I was going to buy some things in another booth and a lady who works in the booth was waiting for me. But, I wasn't going to buy anything else. I wanted to leave.
We drove around back to grab one large item I had purchased and there was the lady. I went up to her and told her we understood the policy, but that she was very rude to my son and husband. She started yelling at me "I witnessed him touching a toy!!! I witnessed it!!!!" I said "that's fine, but you didn't have to be so rude and angry about it. You upset my husband and son. Well, we don't need to purchase anything from this store anymore if this is how you treat your customers. You lost money because I was going to buy more." She stated she was the manager and she didn't care. She didn't need customers like us.
Customers like us?
I really don't know why she was so angry and why she had to yell at us over the touching of one toy. I put in a complaint, but no one really cared.
These stores are a dime a dozen. I will be shopping elsewhere...
Read moreI rarely write negative reviews, but my recent two experiences at the Antique Gallery of Round Rock were disappointing enough to warrant it. The staff was not only inattentive but also surprisingly rude. (If you try to ask them a question, they will simply run away from you...) The ladies at the registers are MOSTLY rude and do not know how to hold a "civil" conversation with customers. You may hear the following question from them: "WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
Questions were met with indifference, and basic courtesy seemed optional. Rather than helping out their customers, they prefer making their shopping experience a very unpleasant time for them. What’s even more frustrating is the apparent mindset of “customer non-service”—a complete disregard for creating a welcoming or helpful environment. For a business that relies on people browsing and asking questions about unique pieces, the lack of engagement was truly off-putting.
There are plenty of antique shops in Central Texas that offer both charm and customer service. Sadly, this location failed on both fronts during my visit. I will not be returning and do suggest that you spend your money at some other antique stores where you will be welcomed with some smiling faces. And lastly, if I were the owner of this store, I would replace all staff...
Read moreI absolutely love this place! I visit here frequently and always find great items. I am not here to discourage anyone from visiting this wonderful place. The ONLY reason that I am not giving them 5 stars is because there is a man that works here ( he resembles The great actor Pete Postlewait) that has the worst presence/attitude. He passed me by about a million times during my last visit and nearly ran me over with the cart he was pushing. He doesn't speak. Doesn't smile. Never once said excuse me any of the multiple times he walked passed with that buggy. I can bet that had I not moved out of his way, he would have ran me right over. I'm not sure if he intentionally, aggressively trudges up and down those aisle to intimidate shoppers, but at my last visit I swear he was trying to make me uncomfortable. Maybe he doesn't like beautiful Latino peoples like myself. Anyway, I'll be back....I'll be shopping uncomfortably and looking over my shoulder while I'm spending my money here. Owner/manager - please encourage your employees to be courteous and friendly. Not everyone will give y'all a second chance. Not everyone wants to be made to feel unwelcome &...
