Went to take a look at this market and found only one stall that was selling any vegetables. Arts and crafts are neat, as are baked good, but I go to a farmer's market to buy farm products.

Those vegetables that were there, happened to be the very same type and variety that were offered across the street at HEB. They were also the exact same color, the exact same maturity, and had the exact same pest damage. They even had the roots removed at the same places on the same types....The only difference was the price. Had I the time, I'd go down there and do a blind taste test and take side by side photos.

What are the chances someone picked the same cultivar of spinach to grow, was attacked by the same pests, cut the roots the same, and harvested their crop at the same time, as a huge grocery chain that happened to be across the street?

It's really easy for people to resell produce, and then simply point at an existing farm address and say it came from there. It would take some good detective work to follow shipments and people, and I don't have the time or the inclination. What I do have the time to do is taste one product compared to the other, and if the price is increased by 400-600%, then the quality...

I love this farmers market. First of all is 10 minutes from my house. I order raw milk every week from the "Ash Acres Dairy" farm, and they bring their van every Saturday for us to pick up their delicious organic products. Also, Mr Pavlos has a delicious variety of greek desserts homemade from his homeland of Greece. Also, he has raw Clover honey, which has medicinal values.
