I would like to start off by saying I was really excited to come here after seeing all of the glowing reviews. However, that wasn't the experience I had.
My appointment was at 5 PM, and I arrived promptly. The nail technician, Iris, was still working with another client. I waited about 40 minutes for her to finish up.
During this time, I was offered drinks by the other technician, I believe her name was Anjeli. She was kind enough to make me feel a little more welcome, but Iris did not. Since my Mandarin was poor, she did not communicate with me much even though I told her I could understand it fine. She spoke with a friend on the phone while working on the nails. Usually this wouldn't bother me but I believe it did distract her at times.
While I was getting prepped, a lady walked in. She spoke in Mandarin, asking about a job. Iris was quick and attentive to her, but not to me. The lady sat down next to me and watched her do my nails, as they chatted. I felt like a test dummy, there was very little acknowledgement of my presence other than to tell me to put my hands this or that way.
As she applied the gel-x nail to my right index finger, I noticed it was crooked. I told her this, but she said it was my finger that was crooked, not the nail. I felt like this was a rude comment to make. There are definitely more polite ways of speaking, and addressing my concerns. Even after fixing it, it still looks crooked.
I chose to add butterfly stickers for my gel-x manicure, and I told Iris that at the beginning. I had the sticker sheet out, but she ended up forgetting. Luckily we were still able to apply it. However, she made a comment that bothered me. She asked if I was sure that I wanted stickers on all of my nails. It felt judgemental, like she would never get something like that for herself. Even the lady next to me told her it was fine, if the client wants and likes something, just do it.
After paying and leaving, I went home. I noticed in the different lighting how unprofessional the nails were done. The biggest issue I see is the application of the right thumb nail. There is a large gap, and I feel like it could have been applied better. The polish is not even; there are patches and streaks. The glue on my left index finger is very thick. Overall, I think the nails could have come out better.
I understand that everyone has their off days. Even so, I believe I was not treated fairly by my nail technician. I called the salon the next day to voice my concerns about the nails. I was offered to get them redone, but honestly my overall experience at the salon was so poor that I do not feel comfortable coming back and getting them fixed. I will have to go elsewhere, where my business can be appreciated more. I am sorry this was a disappointing experience, and I hope that if you do choose to come here, you have a much better...
Read moreOn August 23rd, I went to get my nails done. On the day of the appointment, I received a text without prior notice that my appointment had been rescheduled. I was immediately upset and called them. They said there wasnât any availability at the time, but when I told them I couldnât understand why they had changed my schedule without my consent, they said they'd check and call me back. They eventually told me I could keep my original appointment.
I was already in a bad mood when I arrived, but the staff was kind. I had mistakenly booked a regular nail care appointment instead of a gel manicure, but the staff switched it to a gel manicure for me. I wasnât entirely happy with the result, but I still gave them a 3-star review.
However, four days later, the polish on my nails started peeling. Less than a week later, about a third of the gel on my thumbnail chipped off. The salon said that the oil I had used during the regular nail care might have weakened the polish. When I called them, they offered to fix it for free, so I made another appointment for August 30th.
Once again, on the day of the appointment, they called and told me that a staff member was sick, so they canceled my appointment without prior notice. I filed a complaint, and they agreed to honor my original appointment.
Angela did my nails this time, and she was very friendly and meticulous. When I mentioned wanting to change the color, she happily agreed, and I assumed it was all part of the free service. However, when it came time to pay, they told me that only fixing one or two nails was free, but because I had all the nails redone, I had to pay for the full service. I naturally assumed they were redoing most of my nails since the polish was peeling on almost all of them, but that wasnât the case.
They said they would connect me with the owner, but the person on the phone said she was the ownerâs wife and that she herself was also the owner. I thought that as the owner, she should be willing to provide good service, especially since her staff had done my nails poorly in the first place. Instead, she applied a $20 base coat as part of their âservice.â
After I complained about the price, they reduced it to $25, and in total, I ended up paying $75, wasting my time on two visits and leaving with a bad experience.
Now, less than a week later, the edges of all my nails are lifting, and just yesterday, the gel on my index finger chipped again. If I peel off the lifted parts, I feel like the polish will come off completely.
If I file a complaint again, will I have to pay the full price to fix...
