Is it possible to have an overactive vagus nerve? Vasovagal syncope is a form of dysautonomia that makes people prone to feinting. Some patients can have recurrent feinting episodes that can be a major quality of life burden. Is it from an overactive vagus nerve? What should you do a about it?

Intracranial hypotension from spinal fluid leaks can cause severe headaches that are often diagnosed as migraines. These headaches are caught and treated after spinal taps or surgical procedures, but patients with connective tissue disorders can have them spontaneously. Fortunatley there are successful treatments for this type of headache, so become familiar with the signs and symptoms and talk to your doctor about CSF leaks especially if you. Have EDS or other connective tissue disorders. #EDS #neuroscience #headaches

Dr. Chung and his NUCCA method have given my daughter a new chance at life. She incurred a traumatic injury when she was 12. A doctor visit the day after the event...when her family doctor was first available...gave a diagnosis of "head injury". We went to a good chiropractor she had seen on a preventative bases prior to her traumatic injury but unlike before the trauma, now she found it painful if he tried to adjust her neck so she never got her neck adjusted any more. Her problems got so bad that over 5 years they went from periodic headaches to migraines and then to paralyzing headaches. She would lay in her bed for weeks at a time unable to move, play tennis that she loved, or study. She began to be depressed as she has dreamed of being a family doctor and tennis player and now those dreams seemed out of reach and she was not even a legal adult. We decided to try to have her neck adjusted again and to look for a different chiropractor who might use a technique that would not be so painful as the usual neck adjusting techniques they use. The first one we found was well reviewed chiropractor, but was not going to x-ray her neck before treatment but I insisted and paid $300 just for the Xrays. They were bad. She had the neck curve of an old woman, he explained to us, without going into all details. He adjusted, but as before, the usual chiropractic method of adjusting the neck was so painful for my daughter that she could not take it. I realized the problem was that she could not tolerate the usual chiropractic way of adjusting the neck and researched and searched and google searched for the most highly rated chiropractors and found Dr. Chung had the highest rating of anyone I could find - over 34 reviews and each review was 5 stars. I decided that could not be an accident, so decided to try with him and travelled rather far for the appointment. We saw Dr. Chung a few days after seeing the prior chiropractor who X-rayed her and gave Dr. Chung those X-rays but he said that he had more precise equipment and Dr. Chung INSISTED upon Xraying her with his more precise equpment before treatment - the only health care practitioner who had insisted on any x-raying at all He found two very seriously displaced vertebrae in her upper neck. He explained what was happening and that a ligament holding her C2 in place was disrupted and that's why the C2 was out of place as well as the C1 (the Atlas) that sits atop it. Then he explained that these displaced vertebrae in her neck were the most likely reason for her problems. Dr. Chung took many ultra precise measurements in addition tot he X-rays and then did the ultra focused NUCCA adjustments and my daughter immediately began to feel better. She did not find the NUCCA adjustments painful at all. After several more visits it was clear that this was a game changer for her and her life prospects. We moved to be near Dr. Chung's office and rented a place near him so she can get the care. She requires life long care, and we will have to travel often to see Dr. Chung, but we cannot risk anyone else working on her as that did not work out for the prior 5 years. Thank God for guiding us to Dr. Chung as at least now my daughter has some quality back in her life and a chance for her to enjoy her life. Thank God we...

Three weeks before returning to Florida for season, I was involved in a road bicycling accident that cracked my helmet, knocked me unconscious and resulted in a moderate concussion with disequilibrium and positional dizziness. I was seen at a “world-class” sports concussion center where I was diagnosed with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and referred to a vestibular physical therapist who mis-corrected me and made me so dizzy that I could not walk unassisted for 2 days. I never even moderately recovered from that until I saw Dr. Chung, who was recommended to me by a Pittsburgh specialist in concussion diagnostic equipment who had tested me. Dr. Chung, a chiropractor with advanced training in neurology and a specialization in concussions, was known to them as being bright, compassionate and an effective clinician.

Dr. Chung gave me hope when I was really down. Before I saw him, he conferred with my testers in Pittsburgh and while he knew a great deal about my condition before he saw me, he went over my CAT Scan and X-rays with me and my husband (a retired chiropractor who also has the utmost respect for Dr. Chung’s knowledge, bedside manner and clinical expertise) explaining what he saw neurologically and structurally and how he would be treating me. He encouraged me to get back to the gym and because he also has knowledge of the fitness industry, we were able to discuss specific guidelines. Psychologically, this was a huge help to me since I was concerned that I would not be able to return to my active life of cycling, swimming, playing tennis, working out and even driving. After about 5 sessions with Dr. Chung during which I felt 100% better than I had - yet not 100% cured - Dr. Chung advised that I wasn’t responding the way I should and that I needed specialized equipment (a “Spin Chair”) that only one doctor in West Palm Beach had. I was devastated that Dr. Chung did not think he could help me further. In my mind, if Dr. Chung couldn’t fix me, no one could; that’s how much confidence he instilled in me. I insisted that he treat me while I waited the 3 weeks before I could see someone in the "Spin Chair” office. As it “spun out”, Dr. Chung was right. I did need the “spin chair” and more than one ride in it as my case was, as Dr. Chung knew, a bit complicated. The ENT concurred 100% with Dr. Chung’s diagnosis as to the type of positional vertigo I had.

Dr. Chung is an outstanding healthcare professional – extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, honest and accessible. Unlike most healthcare professionals, Dr. Chung has a cell number that he gives to his patients. I didn’t need to use it but when I called his office and asked for him to call me back, I knew that he would. Sometimes, accessibility and compassion help to heal in and of themselves. With Dr. Chung, you have a real partner in...

About three years ago I was diagnosed with Meniere's Syndrome ( tinnitus + ear fullness + hearing loss + dizziness & vertigo). Not a fun group of conditions to have, and with symptoms getting worse I knew I needed to try other approaches as my ENT was merely band-aiding symptoms without attempting to figure out root cause.

I had read about NUCCA chiropractic on a forum, and figured this was an avenue worth trying...or at least ruling out. So I scheduled a visit with Dr. Chung at the beginning of 2014 with hope that he might find something but also wondering if this was an approach worth taking. After the first consultation, I can say I was impressed with Dr. Chung's knowledge and candor, and the fact that detailed X-Rays and thermal imaging are step 1 and he would only proceed if they showed an issue he could address. The 2nd visit was a review of my results, which did show misalignment of upper vertebrae, and thermal readings showed that my upper neck was under persistent stress condition, net-net Dr. Chung felt I was person that he could help.

Now I won't go into a blow by blow account of every visit, but within about a month....the worst case symptom, vertigo attacks, had been eliminated. Within the first two months, the dizzy spells that precede a full blown vertigo attack, were no longer present. In the 3-4 month range, the ear fullness condition had pretty much totally subsided and tinnitus in my right ear had been eliminated. At 5 to 6 month point, hearing loss ( it was less than 50% ) in my bad left ear has mostly reverted to normal and the tinnitus is at maybe 25% or less of what it was when I first started with Dr. Chung. This is a short summary of a 6 month journey back to health for conditions that has been afflicting me for years.

It was hard to believe when Dr. Chung initially told me this, but he stated that his task was to realign my body and keep it aligned.....nothing less/nothing more.....and then the body can take over and start the healing process. It sounds like a simple concept, but the know-how to "realign my body" is where the science is.....and this is what Dr. Chung excels at. His training allows him to determine the exact type of correction to apply to get spinal alignment and then he works to keep it aligned so that your body healing process can kick in. It is hard to put into words how impressed I am with Dr. Chung and his ability to have this profound an effect on my...
