I have been shopping at Gibson's weekly for the past few months. I love the store and the items I am able to get there, quite a few of which I haven't found at other stores.
That being said I decided to check my receipt yesterday because the price seems off and I wanted to verify. There were 4 items I noted being incorrect prices.
One was 50 cents higher at the register than on the sticker, one was 10 cents higher at the register than the sticker, one was THREE DOLLARS higher than the price expected (this was due to there being no correct shelr label for the item. At a glance I thought it was 4.59 at the register it was 7.29 or so) and I bought some cookies made by the store that advertised a deal if you bought two of them.
Altogether it was about 4/5 extra dollars at the register than the shelf. I understand that isn't a large amount of money, but 5 dollars a week, for a year does add up to 300 plus dollars.
This does not include any price discrepancies for items that I don't buy weekly, so the cost could be a little higher as well.
Aside from that, as someone who has worked in retail and DEALT WITH THIS EXACT THING, we have corrected the issue for the customer and fixed the shelf pricing so it doesn't occur anymore.
I attempted to talk to the workers about this and they just flat said, "The price of the shelf doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if there isn't any labeling. Sometimes we get new products and we don't have labels for them yet. If you don't want to pay the higher price you can bring the products in to return them. Whatever it rings up as, is the price we have to charge."
I didn't argue or be rude, but I was highly disappointed. I will limit coming into this store as much as I can. I won't be buying merchandise anymore. I won't be buying bags. I won't be buying products made in house by Gibson's. I'm not recommending this store to anyone I know anymore. Iwill be buying the absolute bare minimum I can. I get there 10 minutes prior and some younger guy working there doesnât open the doors and turns the lights off, yet I am trying to come in and spend money on specific road trip snacks before heading out. Another lady there said she was rushed at 6:30 pm with employee saying â we close in less than ten minutes so I hope you know why you want , and better get it quicklyâ What a gong show. I will be finding a better spot to get my specialty items, even if I have to order online elsewhere.
