I tried out floating for the first time today! I was nervous but there was no need for that! What a blissful experience. The man at the front desk was friendly but not super helpful and I felt a little rushed with the instructions he gave me. He didn't give me the option to change my music or light color but I knew that was a possibility since I read the other reviews. They have a sheet hanging up on the wall in the room with a few more tips so that was helpful. They advise showing up 15 minutes early but I would recommend 20 minutes so you don't feel rushed. Your float time starts right at your scheduled time so you have to shower and get ready before that. They offer free Classy Hippie Tea before and after your float which is so yummy and another reason to arrive a little earlier. Each room has a private shower and changing area next to the float tank. I was in room number 4 at the end of the hallway. You put your earplugs in (two different kinds to choose from) and then do a quick rinse and then hop in the tank (no swimsuit needed).

I used the Cosmic Om music (soft background music with bells and the om sounds) which was really nice and relaxing and the red-colored light. You can pick out your options at the front desk before your float. I didn't have time to listen to all the options. I wish they had them on their website so you could pick it ahead. After about 5 minutes I turned off the light and halfway through I turned off the music. There are large buttons on the side of the tub to turn them on and off. With the music off I was able to hear my breath and relax my thoughts. With the lights off I felt like I was floating in space. I also picked an intention before I floated which was nice. I tried a few different positions with my arms such as at my sides, resting on my body or bent above my head. I found that I liked them above my head the most. They also have a small ring you can rest your head inside if you want. I felt completely relaxed afterward. It is an indescribable experience and I highly recommend you experience it yourself to see what it is like. I am looking forward to my next float!! Next time I want to try the infrared sauna or the Somadome (meditation pod) before my float.

Then you shower off all the salt. They provide shampoo and body wash and a washcloth. It is not organic though so bring your own if you want that. Afterward, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time in the post-float area to paint or draw, journal, read, drink tea, water or kombucha, stretch, or just relax. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have some CBD products and shirts/tanks to shop from.

The only problem I had was that I forgot to not shave my armpits so there was some burning. I put some Vaseline on which helped. Make sure not to shave any body parts before your float!

Also, they say you don't need to bring anything but if you are going out for a meal afterward I would suggest bringing a comb or brush, deodorant, etc. so you can get ready after your float. They have a small vanity area in the post-float area if you need a space to get ready. They provide everything else such as a towel and flip flops.

Afterward, if you want a healthy meal I suggest Vibe Health Bar (just next door) or Sun and Soil which is just about a 5-minute drive away. Both have organic and vegan cold-pressed juices and meals. Or the Strapping Store is just a couple of minutes' walk with really fun and...

Updated Review: I can honestly say, that while being a busy mom of 4, I have never felt more seen and heard after the Capitol Floats Team responded to me to make things right. The manager of the store went above and beyond to make sure that I get the experience I craved as a busy mom. Her email even got me choked up. As a busy mom of 4, all I wanted was an hour to shut off and not be harassed by a homeless man lol. I am so excited to have another attempt at getting an hour to myself, with no kids, to shut off and get the experience I was craving! Thank you for having the best customer service, sincerely, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. More businesses need workers like you, who truly care.

Sadly won't be back to this location, ever. It's not Broadway, it's borderline Oak Park. The float experience was great, until I tried to turn the music down and it went back up, twice. I did enjoy my float. The shampoo was low quality it seemed, the conditioner smelled amazing, and the body wash took a lot to lather. Next I had to use the restroom to which someone was in there. I asked the front desk lady if someone was in there, and she got up and knocked on the door and a man said "one minute." He was taking so long to come out that I decided to get a water to chug before I went to the restroom. A homeless man comes out of the bathroom and says "oh do you have to go to the bathroom?" I said yes, finished my water and went. When I came out he was no where in the facility. I left the building and he was standing waiting for me on the sidewalk and asked if I was ok? I said yes, why? He said "oh I thought you had to use the bathroom." I responded with "I did". And he goes "oh I thought it was odd that you drank some water when you had to use the restroom, I was doing my business and had to wrap up because you had to go to the bathroom but you didn't go." I then said "actually I did go, but I'm sorry for getting thirsty beforehand." because you took so long to get out!!!! And first off I PAID to use the restroom unlike you! I didn't say those last few parts. But ya, he ruined my entire experience and ended the conversation by being a jerk and saying he's a very serious person, and that he didn't like to be messed with. I quickly got to my car and locked my door as soon as I got in it. I won't be back. Not worth the area, or the people. Especially if homeless people (non paying customers) are just allowed to use...

My float experience was a complete and utterly awesome mind body trip and a half.

They say each person experiences it differently so here is my version. First a little about me. I am a busy business owner who was in a car accident about a year ago that im still healing from. I am dealing with business thing from 7 am sometimes until midnight. Stress is no stranger to me. I also played roller derby for 8 yrs do my body needs some love.

I chose a complete sensory deprivation experience. I didnt expect that choice(because i have claustrophobic issues) but it came completely naturally. As soon as I entered the pod I wanted nothing to do with the world. I want to be one with the water. No lights, no sound, it was fabulous.

I discovered, of course, that I coud hear each sound the inside of my body made and that was reasuring and interesting. I played with that for a while much like a baby might in the womb. I turned around and round slowly(not onto my face, you cant get this salt water on your face). I lost all sense of my relation to the space i was in. I didnt know which way the door was and I didnt care.

I bent my limbs and spine in odd but comfortable ways and trickled water and it echoed and sounded odd like i was on another planet. At some point i suppose i got tired of playing with movement and i just went still.

Mind you....this entire time.....

I DIDNT THINK OF WORK OR LIFE OUTSIDE THIS POD. I WAS MINDLESS. IT WAS FABULOUS!

in this new stillness in the pure blackness and pure silence....i became one with the water that was holding me up and the only way i want to describe it is to say i felt like i was being cradled by the most comfortable body temperature pudding ever. Hahaha it was thick and good and i didnt want to leave. That lasted maybe 10 or 15 minutes then they turned the lights on and i had to get out.

I rate this experience a 200+ and i want to do it once a month. I would go once a week but i cant afford that. I am very happy to have found this float experience and...
