A Truly Elevated High Tea Experience - Classy Hippie Tea Company
If you're looking for a high tea experience that goes far beyond the typical cucumber sandwiches and teacups, look no further than Classy Hippie Tea Company in Sacramento, just off Broadway. We had the pleasure of attending one of their weekly High Tea events held on Saturdays, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Leo, the owner and certified tea sommelier, whose passion for tea is contagious. He personally guided us through the tasting, sharing fascinating stories and deep insights about each tea's origin, history, and cultural significance. It was like taking a global journey-without ever leaving downtown Sacramento. Each tea was expertly paired with food, resulting in what could only be described as a five-course culinary experience. From fresh seasonal fruits to perfectly prepared salmon and a variety of small bites in between, every detail was carefully curated to complement and elevate the tea. Each course felt intentional, thoughtful, and full of flavor. What made the day even more memorable was that we happened to be the only ones booked for this particular weekend, turning it into an intimate, private tea tasting. As we were celebrating the bachelorettes, this personalized experience made the occasion all the more special. I've attended many high tea events before, but this was truly unlike any other. It's a perfect blend of education, flavor, culture, and atmosphere-an experience that satisfies both the mind and the palate. Whether you're a tea enthusiast or just looking for something unique to do in Sacramento, Classy Hippie Tea Company is an absolute must. It's more than a tea tasting;...

Go just go. I found this place by luck. I was looking for a place to study before my test. Google took me here. The ambiance is calming, which I needed cause I was stressing over this test. This is a real tea shop, not play tea party, meaning they place selected loose leaf tea in a bag and steep it, it is not a concentrated flavored liquid from a pump. They are preserving tradition, quality, and value. I know some may not understand this, and that's ok. I consulted with the gentleman behind the counter about my drink selection prior to placing my order at the standing tablet. Staff is knowledgeable about various teas along with health benefits and properties. While I was waiting for my tea with tumeric to steep, the Tea Sommelier brought me a clear glass or warm freshly juiced grapefruit juice with cinnamon and a shot of chlorophyll. I understand grapefruit can interfere with certain medication, this is not an issue for me. This drink changed my mind about grapefruit and I have incorporated it into my daily routine since. I ordered a chai for a subtle pick me up as opposed to my usual body jolting coffee. The cardamom wasn't too overpowering, cinnamon was subtle, I could def taste the ginger. Every patron was offered a warm greeting followed up with small talk about drink preferences, today's agenda, past event, etc. This is the Tea shop version of the show Cheers where everyone knows your name and if they don't, they will...

Food- so far I’ve only had the cinnamon roll and the chicken/rice dish, both were amazing. The rice had a lot of garlic, which was perfect for me and the cinnamon rolls are made in house! I look forward to trying the rest of their food, as I come here quite often.
Drinks- alright, so I get the London fog latte with oat milk every time I come here, and actually just bought 2 ounces of his lavender infused earl grey tea leaves, but I’ve also tried a sip of someone else’s coffee here and the quality is far beyond most places I’ve been to. I’m definitely looking forward to trying the rest of the teas, especially now that I have those leaves to make my favorite order at home!
Service- in all honestly, the wait times are a bit long, but that’s what happens if you want quality food and drinks. The owner is super friendly, and is kind to all customers.
Atmosphere- the music is good and the people are even better. There are a lot of regulars, and the owner is fast to have good rapport with everyone who comes in. I bring my infant with me regularly, and everyone shows us kindness. I meet my queer crochet group and we are able to talk freely, which is a lovely thing.
Overall, this is a lovely spot that does wonderful things for our community while providing great...
