Hotel Med Park, an Ascend Collection Hotel — Hotel in Sacramento

We stayed here due to proximity to the hospital for my child's surgery. The only positive. This place is below basic as far as the rooms and hallways. There is no AC in the hallways, the rooms are small, the carpet is old and dirty. Everything is dated except for the lobby area. Breakfast is below basic. This is nowhere nearly a 3 star quality hotel. I booked 2 nights via a third party over the phone, but paid in advance only for one night. It was deceiving, because I am certain now the owner himself did the booking for a higher price, $202, rather than their direct rate of $139 nightly, taxes incuded, which I came to find out at the location. I was lead to believe I was getting a good deal because I couldn't find a room available online, so when I called, they said a room just became available. Only to see the hotel barely had any other guests during our stay. The owner is shady and is operating the business to make people overpay by pretending you are booking through a third party, and not directly with them. Every time my husband or I asked, we were told a different rate. I do not recommend this place. They take advantage of people who have to find a place to stay while their child needs surgery. When I tried to get the direct lower rate for the second night, I could not reason with them. They said I had to prepay for the second day, instead of at checkout, but failed to let me know that information at checkin. They made copies of my id and credit card, but said they still needed me to go to front desk the morning of the second day to provide pgysical payment. All while I was in the hospital with my daughter who had just had surgery and I did not get their calls in time, so they ended up charging me extra, $185, instead of $139.

They came up with excuses to not allow me to pay the direct lower rate. Do not try to reason with them. They will pretend they don't understand English. This is a waste of your money. Not to mention front desk called the phone in our room at 11:00pm when my kids were sleeping to ask me if I had a luggage card, which I have no clue what they were talking about. Very...

I almost never write reviews, but sometimes you just have to. I chose this hotel due to location, and the price being slightly less than hotel on hospital campus. Mistake on my part.

Terrible experience start to finish. Booked 3 nights for a surgery at the hospital across the street. Clerk spoke little to no English, could not answer basic questions. My family member staying in the room was subjected to constant jumping noises in room above for 2 days straight. I called the hospital myself an hour after my surgery, while still in recovery, to let them know this was unacceptable. This should tell you how furious I was. He told me he would make it stop in his broken English. It did not stop, so I left the hospital a day early for my family members sake even though I'd already been approved for 2+ nights at the hospital. Would rather deal with the extra pain at home than subject my family to somewhere they can't sleep. Would reccomend staying at the best western on campus if you're having a procedure done. It's more pricey, but my stays there have always been without issue.

From my presepctive, they stole 2 nights worth of money from me. Family couldn't sleep two nights, would not correct issue, so was forced to leave day early for which I had already paid for. Of course they wouldn't refund, could not get the matter escalted to corporate... again the clerk could only say maybe one sentence in English. This chain is highly sketchy after looking more into it, I really should of done more research other than just glance at the overall review ratings and price before booking. Back to the Hilton collection... pay so much more, but they also take care of issues on the spot if you have any. Discount hotels come with the above issues.

Edit- Going through the positive reviews after I wrote this, (which I should of deep dived into before booking) they very much sound like the ones at Amazon that are clearly paid for. Make your own choice, best wishes to anyone and their families at Hospital, you are in very good...

Garbage and Lies.I made a reservation only because it was close to the Hospital and the pictures looked decent. My fiance' had been diagnosed with a very bad Cancer and was booked for an emergency surgery at UC Davis. We live 200 miles away and it was important for her to have a clean and quiet place for her to recover for a couple days after the surgery. We also had family coming in from around the country to support and they need to be accommodated the day of - parking was TERRIBLE and limited. We showed up only to find the hallways leading to the rooms we filthy and the place was dingy... The room smelled of mold and we immediately left. We explained this to the manager and he was extremely apologetic once I explained my needs & concerns. I explained we needed to find somewhere else that was clean and adequate. He said he understood and promised a full refund, however we booked through a third party and we had to go through them. He promised as soon as I made the call, he would allow the refund through the third party. I looked him in the eye and asked " I have your word that their will be no problems with this" and he nicely replied "absolutely not". At that moment it was more important to get my fiance comfortable so we went on to find another property. When we finally found another suitable place I made that call for the refund that was promised, Now, the story changed once I wasn't right in front of this kid. He explained he would NOT issue the refund and never made that promise. He explained I was still responsible for the first day and he would waive the rest BUT this was contrary to everything we had clearly spoke about. Fortunately my credit card company was much more willing to accommodate and reversed the charges themselves despite this kids lies. I certainly would not recommend this place especially if you have...
