Discovering Duddington's on a Sunday in St. Augustine was to sashay into the beautifully curated world imagined by the founder who knows antiques. You are gently welcomed upon crossing the threshold; yet nothing prepares you for the glory of all that awaits you as you step through the rooms.

Silk and velvet ribbons in baskets, (my passion!) hand-made paper, journals and unique cards I have not seen anywhere in any city; endless styles of jewelry, whimsical kimonos, beautiful inspirations for the home, pillows, pottery, handbags and perfume. Discovering the world of "Twist" the elegant perfume company creating scents based on luxury fragrance (that has escalated beyond comprehension) and instead offers dual fragrances of French origin, yet created in the US.

When I entered the shop, the couple before me remained equally awestruck at the layers of beauty. I was amazed that this haven was in Florida and thought of all of the cities I could be in from the treasures I am seeing. There are several rooms to imbibe with pathways to unique expressions and offerings you need to view over and over again. Spending an hour only inspires a promise to return. Having just moved to St. Augustine, Duddington's restored my hope that someone appreciates style and artistry in this part of the world. London, Bermuda, New York, Los Angeles, Dublin, Milan and Sydney have been places I called home for some part of my life. I have been longing for the shops and unique style of London since I left years ago. Duddington's has softened the longing and I shall be returning often for inspirational gifts for those I love; a wedding; new baby, or a birthday; the soirée of offerings needs to be experienced.

As a local of St Augustine, I always try to support local, and find the unique and special stores in my community…I was able to add this gem to my list today… Duddington’s is the perfect place to find just what you aren’t looking for! There is a variety of merchandise and price point that will surely allow every shopper to find just the right treat for yourself or someone else, but what captured my eye were the wonderful range of cards! I love a handwritten note, so for me it was heaven. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful and both ladies made my shopping experience that much more enjoyable. I live in Saint Augustine and love to go in the shop, however, the last two or three times that I have made a special trip downtown, there’s a sign on the door that says be back in two minutes.
