Deadlock Escape — Local services in Saint Charles

We went to do the heist room. We were told this room was newer and we were excited. Between all of our group members, this is last deadlock room we haven’t done. Normally dead lock is a 10/10. However, we specifically do NOT recommended the heist until there are some updates made. Here is what we didn’t like:

One of the puzzles malfunctioned. We only got a portion of what we were supposed to get and the game master didn’t notice until we pointed it out at the very end. They said that other teams have had it malfunction on them, too. I was surprised the didn’t notice and proved us with the clue.

We were able to beat the room without the malfunctioned puzzle and one lock that we never unlocked. The game master didn’t know what the lock code was and also couldn’t explain what either of the puzzles were supposed to say or give us or where those pieces were supposed to lead us to.

It has a new clue function - it’s kinda of automatic and so we would press “give us a hint” and it would keep repeating the same hint that we already solved over and over. They did have a walkie talkie in there.

I feel like there could have been more proactiveness with the game master on noticing we were being given the same hint or that our puzzle malfunctioned. It may have been a busy night or understaffed, very understandable. But it’s kind of a bummer when you tell the ask the game master at the end what a specific puzzle was and they didn’t even know it didn’t work all the way.

Again, we LOVE deadlock and would recommend any of their other rooms- but would definitely not suggest the heist...

Super fun! One of the better escape rooms. We did Prison and it was super immersive. Pretty difficult without being impossible. Made it out in 40 min with 2 people and 2 hints. Our master Ava was awesome! The room itself was super well done. I liked how realistic it was. everything wasn’t just shoved into one room and there was more then just keys and padlocks to discover and get through. Will definitely be returning to do the other rooms!

UPDATE: we came back to do hijack and it was SO fun. Another super well thought out room with more than just locks and codes. This one was harder but when our time was up, we were close enough that she gave us just enough extra time to finish and I love that. It took us about 5 minutes from there and we were out! Obviously no score board or record holders here, but being able to finish was so such a nice touch. I love how interactive these ones are. Our game master was EMMA and she was awesome :). We’ll be back for the new one, Bank...

We did two of the spooky rooms for my mothers birthday (Escape Annebelle 2 and The Possession). The rooms themselves were great, both were multiroom setups with lots of neat effects to startle and surprise you and varied puzzle types to figure out. Quite a few that I've never seen anything like in previous escape rooms I've attended.

Our game master for both games, Emma, was lovely. She was pleasant, friendly, and helpful. The hints she gave were good and clear and helped us back into things the couple of times we hit snags. We needed to make small changes to our reservation and add more people and she was able to assist us smoothly and painlessly.

Overall a ton of fun and I'm excited to go back and play the rest of...
