We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting the local attractions. The campground is about a mile north of the tourist area of St. Ignace on the east coastline of town. You'll exit North State Street at the big sign for the campground and head uphill for half a block before making the first left, and after about 100 feet the office and check-in area (a large gravel parking lot) will be on your left.
The RV sites are all located in the front (north) end of the campground; the tent and yurt sites are located in the back. Most of the sites are back-ins and are either somewhat or mostly shady. The few pull-though sites have open skies above them. All sites have gravel pads, picnic tables and in-ground fire pits. They have a number of sites suitable for larger RVs, but you will want to check out the campground map online and pick a site with a size and orientation that works for you, and you have the option to lock in your site choice. We chose site 11, the end site on the left side of a "tree branch" row of pull-through sites, where everyone enters from one end and then turns right or left into their site. All of the sites on our side exited out onto an "exit only" campground road that had no access to the rest of the campground, so we would park our truck in front of the RV and simply back into the road whenever we came back from an excursion. Our site was level and the hookups were in a standard location.
All of the campground amenities are located in and around the office. The dump station is just across the parking lot from the office, which unfortunately means you have to pull your RV into the parking lot to use it and then make a U-turn to get out, but fortunately the parking lot is just large enough to allow for such turns. The dumpster is located near the east end of the office building, which is the end with the laundry room and a pair of vending machines (one with snacks and one with soda). There is a small lounge area in the office, which is the only place where you can use the WiFi service. On the west side of the office building are a couple of individual shower rooms, and then the bathrooms. The men's bathroom was serviceable but not particularly clean, and it seemed small given the number of RV and tent campsites it needed to support.
There is no enclosed dog park. We primarily walked our dog in the open grass area just outside of the campground in front of our site, and next to the taller grasses on the edge of the parking lot.
In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was 20 Mbps down and 9 up, but while the bandwidth was solid during the first day or two of our stay, it became fairly weak during the daytime and evening hours as we approached the weekend. The best speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 222 Mbps down and 17 up, and we were able to fall back to using that when the Verizon was poor.
Our site did not have a view of Lake Huron, but a few site on the other side of our row and in the northeast corner could probably see a bit of the lake. The campground location makes for a very short drive to the downtown tourist area and the major ferry operators running ferries to...
Read moreAs another reviewer said, where to even begin? We called a few days ago and asked if they had any full hook-up sites available for a 40ft 50amp fifth wheel. The man who answered the phone said yes and took our information and we assumed everything was good. The day of arrival, we knew we were going to be there past 5pm so we made sure and called to let them know. They said that was fine and they would leave a map with our site marked and we could pay in the morning. All good. So we pull in around 7 and the office is still open, we go inside and give them our name and say we have a reservation. The lady just looked at us with a blank stare and shows us 3 cards, none of which were us. Awesome. She proceeds to tell us that they have no full-hookup sites left. Great. After 7pm and we have no site. She then says they have a site with water and electric (no sewer) or one with just electric. Alright, at this point, we'll just have to settle for that I guess. She drives us out there to see them, points at them, and drives off. We take a look at them and realize they're both 30amp only, not 50. We go back to the office and tell her we need 50amp and she says the whole park is only 30amp. So just to recap, when we originally called, they told us they had a 50amp full-hookup pull-through site that we could reserve. We thought this for days while we drove across the country! They lied about having 50amp service and then apparently just threw away our reservation! When we told them we didn't have any other site or anywhere to go, she just shrugged her shoulders. Why should she care? Their site looked almost full being in St. Ignace in the summer, she got her money and didn't care about anyone else. When I asked who the guy was that took our reservation, she would not tell me and tried to say we had called the wrong park. When I showed her the number we called and that it was indeed their number, she again just shrugged her shoulders. This leads me to believe this happens very often. My suspicions were confirmed when I called another park in the area and told them the story, they said that many people call them after having the very same issues with Tiki RV Park.
I took all the time to write out all these facts just in the hopes to save you all the same anger and frustration I had dealing with these people. They do not care about you and will do as little as possible just until they get your money. For your sake and the sake of your sanity, FIND A DIFFERENT PARK! I don't care if it's 50 miles away, it's worth it just so you don't have to walk...
Read moreThe most rude staff I've ever experienced at a campground! From the time I tried booking my reservation back in February and them advertising specials that they no longer honored to rudely coming around saying we were supposed to check out at 11am even though our check-in paperwork we received (grabbing out of a bin because they don't believe in face to face check-ins and unable to answer any questions you typically have at check-in; tell you to call a number which doesn't work when you don't have service and their wifi isn't working) clearly states check-out is at noon. "Told us we need to leave now! It's an old map." If you're going to have a self check in system and give people all the information via a paper flyer and not have anyone on-site explaining rules and procedures, you should make sure ALL of the paperwork is completely up to date. Also a confirmation email outlining check-in and out procedures ahead of time would have been VERY helpful. WiFi was a joke, barely worked and the spot where it worked a little was right outside the heaviest trafficked area of the campground. Trying to make a wifi call was nearly impossible, not just due to the lack of signal, but also the garbage truck and all the large motorhomes coming in (before check-in hours and sitting in the parking lot with their rig running). Also had to help quite a few people figure out the check-in process while standing there trying to get wifi. Their signage says nothing about looking in the blue bin to get your site information. And no one answered when ringing the doorbell during posted business hours. The only reason this review gets 3 stars is because the campsites themselves are nice and rustic with lots of shade trees. They are smaller sites, but really nice place to camp during hot summer days. (My husband says I'm being very generous with 3 stars) No beach access, pool, or playground at this campground. Definitely geared for older folks who just need a place to sleep but don't plan to hang out at the campground...
