The Safe Weather Shelter is not really as "Safe" as advertised, for one I lost my laptop and tablet at this place, second it is a frequent hangout for wildlife photographers, while I being a plant photographer , am content with photographing anything stationary as a plant, I did find some predators this morning stalking prey in the bathroom, they mistook me for game, and started gaming......, I was searched for possible possession of a dangerous carcinogen called tobacco, and since I had none to offer, like the movie "My name is Khan", I humbly apologized not having have done my homework on the topic and googled up the stuff, but being smelt and frisked by a predator is not so friendly an experience, when normal game locates a unfinished cigarette stub on the floor, they usually concede it to the cops, who love chewing on the remains or smoking them, as shown on TV, but these predators were of a different kind, not satisfied with such butts, they intend striking their prey again and again. The Safe Weather Shelter, is located at the basement of the Ramsey County Building, and is a shelter for the outdoors-men in severe weather situations, while normally a referral from an outreach worker or the cops is needed on cold weather days, days with temperature less than 30 , no permission is needed, yesterday I visited the shelter and witnessed appalling standards of corruption, especially against the indigenous people. It being a cold weather day, nobody was supposed to be turned down as one cannot possibly survive outdoors for more than half an hour, even if well dressed. I actually saw person, after person, who badly needed the facility turned down to seek alternatives, left to a possible risk of hypothermia shock outdoors and maybe frostbite too. My husband went there and had a terrible experience. The woman at the front desk (Description: African American, hefty, fat upper lip) refused to help ANYONE. I can't even find a number to call to speak with an actual person so here I am. She numerously insulted my husband's intelligence. Then when he was waiting in line, another woman came in asking where she could find certain paperwork and the front desk woman IGNORED her, so another man tried helping her. Suddenly the front desk woman magically learned how to hear/talk again and yelled at him for helping her, saying he didn't know which papers would be correct. Yet she didn't even try helping in the first place?? Absolutely horrible. How they can call themselves "Human Services" is beyond me. I'd give no...
