Zero stars if I could. This review is not for this Petco location. It is for the company and the website as a whole. I bought pet food from Petco since 2014, and now I am completely thrilled that I finally cancelled my account and will never shop there again. I'd rather become a farmer, slaughter my own cows, and make handmade cat food than deal with Petco one more minute. The website is glitchy, managing repeat orders was nearly impossible. The website believed that my "home store" was in a city 100 miles away from my shipping address. They sent me the wrong product more than once. Irritating issues year after year. Things that should be simple like updating a credit card or an address took forever with multiple error screens. They got rid of the customer service phone # and now they want you to talk to a bot. Eventually you'll be sent to chat with people in India. Their English is great and they act nice but they do NOTHING to help you. They double ordered and double charged me but refused to refund my money and wanted me to wait to receive the duplicate product and then carry heavy boxes of cat food back to a local store to return them - even though it was their error that caused the problem. Isn't the whole point of home delivery that I don't have to go to the store? I spent 4 hours over the course of 3 days trying to get my money back, was repeatedly lied to about a pending refund, and finally just had to contact my bank to dispute the charge. I hate Petco so much, and it's a relief to be...
Read moreUse extreme caution when buying clearance pet food here. We bought some treats for our dog and cat tonight. When I opened and dumped a package of the dog food topping for my puppy’s dinner it didn’t look right and smelled a little funkier than wet pet food normally does. That’s when I noticed that the Best Buy Date was 07/25/2024. I had to do a double take to make sure I had read that correctly as that was 9 months ago. I checked the other packet and it expired 05/07/2024- almost a year ago. I thought just to be safe, I’d check the cat food and I’m glad I did- they expired 12/11/2024 (almost 5 months ago). I know stores often clearance out products that are approaching their Best Buy Dates, but I’ve never seen a store sell expired product (I did some research and wet pet food is generally still safe a month or two after the Best Buy Date, but not a year later). If it had been just the one brand/product I would be more likely to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a simple oversight, but given that there were multiple products by multiple brands and for two different species of animals, I felt it pertinent to warn anyone who is considering shopping there.
I will bring them back to the store tomorrow and hopefully they don’t give push back, but will update when I do.
Additionally, my husband said that two of the employees stocking were rude to him. The only redeeming thing about our first (and last) visit to this store was the cashier Catherine, who was kind...
Read moreToday I brought my dog in for his 3rd grooming session at this location. He tends to be on the nervous side but if I am allowed to walk him back to the grooming door he does better with the transition. The groomer that took his leash started walking him back and when he resisted (because he is nervous) she pulled and dragged him by his harness towards the door. So much so that he resisted and pulled out of his harness and ran back towards me. I said that I would walk him back and she said she’d grab a slip lead. I said I CAN WALK HIM BACK and she proceeded to put the slip lead on him and drag him. I was shocked! Never have I seen a groomer of animal drag an animal across the room. I understand that they are on a schedule and that animals anxiety can heighten if their owner stays within eye sight but I am livid that my dog Chili, was dragged and pulled when he clearly was scared. And especially because I offered a less aggressive alternative to get him where he needed to go. I will be noting who the groomer is and asking to not have her work with my dog again. It’s disheartening knowing that that type of process is allowed? Like what about offering a treat and asking the dog to come? Why is the first reaction...
