Update 5/14/24: While the poor experience with the jewelry itself can't be changed, I do want to say that Amy from RF Moeller reached out here as well as by phone to see if there was anything they could do to help us feel better about the situation. She was kind, owned the mistakes that were made, and worked hard to see if there was anything she could do to help right the situation.
I want to preface this by saying that the person we worked with at R.F. Moeller, Taylor, was absolutely phenomenal. She is kind, thoughtful, knowledgable, and helpful!
We went to R.F. Moeller to get my wedding band- I chose one from the case that needed to be ordered and resized. I ordered it in February for an original pick up in March. When we arrived, the diamonds were not 3/4 of the way around as requested, but about 1/2 way around. It was explained that this was because of the resizing. The ring also had small scratches and dents on the gold band (which did not come out when buffed). Throughout the process I had specified that I wanted 3/4 so I assumed that since it was noted on the paper, the adjustments would be made to have it be 3/4 with the ring size adjustment. Taylor was very helpful and re-ordered the ring with further notes/customization.
Taylor called in April to let me know the ring was ready, however it didn't look good enough/wasn't up to standards so she had sent it back (wherever they got it from- I guess another jewelry store?) and I needed to wait another week to get it back.
The next time I went in (May 11th, for a ring that was ordered in Mid-February) the ring had the diamonds in the right spots and 3/4 of the way around- but it still had scratches noticeable to the naked eye and deep enough that you could feel them when running your finger over them. The person who helped us, Matt, looked and agreed then took it to get buffed out. After that, the scratches were still noticeable. He said they need to explore what is going on with their supplier (again, I thought their pieces were made in house so this was confusing) and said they "try to help everybody".
At this point, I said I no longer wanted this ring. I did not feel comfortable or confident that they could get it right after 3 failed attempts, nor did I want to rely on them for repairs etc. on a lifetime piece. If I am paying $2300 for a brand new ring, I expect that it won't have scratches and issues multiple times that I had to bring to their attention. I was given a refund, but left without a wedding band for our wedding and scrambling with no additional options offered. Now, I am working with another local jeweler but out extra money because I have to pay to get it rushed thanks to the lack of attention to detail from R.F. Moeller.
Overall, a highly disappointing experience. I would advise anyone on any sort of timeline to look elsewhere, I would also advise anyone picking up their jewelry to inspect it carefully and advocate for yourself because if you don't, it does not seem...
Read moreReview as someone who was trying to sell a watch to RF Moeller, not buying a piece from RF Moeller
Called on a Thursday and spoke to Will, to ask if RF might be interested in purchasing my watch. I gave a ton of information over the phone and then was told I couldn't get an offer over the phone and I should bring the watch in to be inspected.
That made sense to me, so the next day I brought the watch in. Once I was already in the store Will then told me I needed to leave the watch for 5 days (dropped on Friday, was told it would be ready on Tuesday).
So I called on Tuesday, I asked if they had an offer for my watch. The woman who answered the phone (Amy) was EXTREMELY rude for no reason. She asked if I had received a text, which I had not, and she then said "Well your watch isn't ready then". with no explanation of how much longer it might take, even though I was told my watch would be ready.
I called again Tuesday night about an hour before close, to see if there was an update. I was told if I don't want to wait they can grab my watch for me, but what I actually wanted was clear communication and for RF Moeller to adhere to the guidance THEY had given to me.
Amy then called me back to inform me of my offer ($250 lmfao). and Told me they didn't have a market for my watch. I was very confused why they would've even let me bring my watch, and leave it for 4 days if they already knew that they didn't have a market for it. (For comparison - Continental Diamond advised me they weren't interested in looking at my watch. Which meant My time was not wasted, and neither was theirs).
bottom line is, if you're looking to sell a piece of Jewelry absolutely do NOT go to RF Moeller. Absolutely do NOT deal with AMY. Will was very kind and courteous, but also wasted the hell out of my time and his own time. Not sure what they were thinking.
EDIT:: The Owner of the store, Bryan, Called me to personally apologize for my experience. He advised me that they used my experience in a team meeting as a learning opportunity for his employees. He agreed that RF Did not do a good job communication with me, and listened to all of my concerns.
I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars, because of Bryan calling me to personally apologize and address the situation. I can tell Bryan truly cares about running a successful business, and won't let situations like that slide. Kudos to you, Bryan, For addressing...
