If you need a laptop between two and six hundred dollars you will find no better shop anywhere in this country. Since Salem Techsperts no longer services devices as a part of their business, this is now, in my opinion, one of the best places you can get your devices serviced. Do note that there isn't enough room on the floor for them to display all of the devices for sale. So please use the website as well if you go in to look for something. Conveniently they actually have a website terminal for the shop on the store floor at the checkout counter. But it doesn't just stop at amazing prices and amazing technicians and amazing customer service. No, they also play amazingly selected video game music from the sound systems they have for sale. If you are near the Twin Cities and you need a new laptop, this is the place to go if you are looking for something from $200 to $600 range. Technically they have a little bit of competition from Free Geek Twin Cities which also sometimes offers laptops from the $200 to $300 range, which are pretty comparable but the prices for machines in this range of the same specification are generally slightly better here for...
Read moreStopped by with an old non-programmable 6-qt Crock Pot that had a frayed cord that we also no longer wanted. Due to other circumstances, I chose not to repair it and take it to Goodwill. We looked up the fee for small kitchen appliances on the website. Looked like it would be $5. Seemed reasonable. Not knowing what's done with items dropped off, I made sure to bring the crock and the lid, in case there's a refurb/training program.
Got there and "due to the size", I was told the fee was $10. I'm not here to debate how large or small a small appliance is, but the decision to charge $10 seemed completely arbitrary and made on the spot. Knowing that the components that make up a slow cooker vs say, a coffee maker are not that far apart when it comes to recycling, it just seemed dumb to stand there and argue about it. I paid...
Read moreOrdered a desktop unit on Wednesday afternoon. Selected "pickup at store" even though shipping would be free. That would save them the cost of boxing and shipping and enable me to get it quickly. After no response, I called Thursday afternoon to check if there was a problem. A return caller informed me he had the unit in front of him; it just had to be processed. I would be sent a notice when I could get it. Another full day has passed and the simple process of "checking out" has still not been done. It appears they do not open again until Monday. This is a totally unacceptable way to conduct business. I would not deal with them again and I recommend...
