I advise others to not shop at this store if you are against fat shaming and false accusations. My friends and I visited this store a few days ago and were met with an unpleasant and uncomfortable experience.
The girl with the blue hair and choppy bangs made me uncomfortable throughout the whole visit as she was complaining out loud about customers, and made a rude comment towards my body. When looking at the shorts, I asked her how the sizing worked to be considerate since she had been openly complaining about other customers rummaging through the items (which I thought was unprofessional). She looked me up and down after I asked where the smallest size shorts were located and said in the rudest and most condescending tone that I wouldnât fit in the that with a mean expression on her face. I was stunned with the judgement in her tone and the manner in which she said that. While I understand that vintage sizing is different compared to sizes today, this was not the right way to explain that to a customer. I felt uncomfortable with her and tried to walk away but she kept going on about how my body would not fit in the smallest size shorts. Why would I want to hear a long explanation of my body being too big for the tiny vintage sizes? I understood her the first time but she kept going on as I was trying to walk away.
Not only this, the same girl stopped my friend from leaving and accused her of stealing a pair of jeans without proper evidence. This accusation was confusing as my friend hadnât done anything to make them think she would steal. She told my friend that she had folded up those jeans that same morning. This was a false accusation as my friend had purchased the jeans during her previous visit and didnât âstealâ them.
Overall, this worker completely ruined the experience from her fat shaming comment to the false stealing accusation. I feel bad for other customers that may come in and get told that they âwonât fitâ in the smaller sizes. This worker gave off mean girl energy and I hope she fixes her attitude and biases to not make other future clients feel as uncomfortable as my...
Read moreI had really high hopes for this store as someone who loves thrifting, especially once I set foot inside and saw how many items the store has to offer. However, I quickly became unsettled as I combed through Shein, Target, and other fast-fashion brands selling for $20 higher than their original price simply because they were 2 years old and not manufactured anymore. The actual vintage items were upwards of $60, which normally I would understand if half of them hadn't most likely come from Goodwill or the bins, where they sell for less than $12.
The staff is seemingly very nice, but I was made incredibly uncomfortable when I was looking through the shorts and pants... One staff member literally grabbed a pair of pants from me and told me I was looking in the wrong section, then proceeded to hold up different pairs of pants to my waist until she had found my correct size. Then, she directed me over to the section that had my size and started handing me several items I could not afford and asking when I would be ready to try on. It was very aggressive and I was just trying to find some baggy pants and look around, but I was unable to do so at any point without some lady coming over and trying to tell me what I was "supposed" to be looking for. Normally, I'd consider sizing helpful... if I ASK for help. However, I was just trying to thrift aimlessly with my friends and I even told the lady that I was "just looking" but she continued to be aggressive.
Overall, what should have been a fun thrift outing with my friends was turned into an uncomfortable encounter with some of the most aggressive and unlikeable sales people I have ever met. However, I do understand that they were just doing their jobs, and I think that Wendy needs to change the culture of her store so that she stops scaring away teenage girls with money to spend, since they're her main demographic right now. Would not recommend, even though I really...
Read moreI am a 22 year old woman who has been thrifting since I was a child, and on my first trip here, Wendy herself ensured that I will never return and will do my absolute best to prevent anyone else from doing so. This place is disgusting, and the owner is a vile person who has made it so that I and others will never waste our time and money here to be mocked and belittled again. If you have any respect for yourself, your belongings, or your money, refrain from coming here. I was brought here by a friend yesterday, and upon entering, I got to look around for about seven minutes before I was pulled aside by Wendy herself, who told me to follow her to another section for âgothic clothesâ. She brought me to a rack of clothing and pointed to a room down the hall, stating: âDown there we keep corsets, lingerie, all sorts of stuff you might like. Right here, we keep some other stuffâyou honestly probably shouldnât even go back there; I try to keep the REALLY big stuff separate from the small stuff. So hereâs where all the bigger things would beâ yâknow, just so everyone can kind ofâŚstay within their own size.â She looked me from head to toe patronizingly with a smirk while she made these remarks, and when my face visibly fell and I said âoh⌠thank you.â she sneered and said âyeah, youâre welcome.â and walked away chuckling. It took a very active effort on my part to not escalate the situation to a physical level. My friend and I left immediately after an employee tried to apologize for...
