Wilson's Book World — Local services in Saint Petersburg

There is indeed a HUGE number of books! But, it's not as organized as one might like - You're literally wandering through stacks and around hidden corners trying to find stuff. AND a lot of the books they do have have obviously been traded for quite some time - They're really old and really beat up.

The owner is outwardly friendly, but. The trade policy is where this store earns most of my low rating. I took in about $60 retail value of mint condition, mostly hardcovers and a couple of (also mint) mass market paperbacks. She gave me $4 of trade credit. Maybe she expected me to haggle, IDK - in hindsight, her tone was kind of hesitant. In contrast, I went to a different used book store two days later with a similar amount of trade (Fewer hardcovers cause I'd unfortunately learned my lesson at Wilson's) And was given literally triple that. For LESS.

For me, trade credit is important. Large selection, of some books in better condition (to add to my personal library) is also important. So I, personally, won't be back to this store.

But for you - If you only care about trading books from Wilson's, using it like a lending library? YMMV, This could still be the place for you. It's got a cozy atmosphere and is open till 6pm on weekdays. (Which is why 2 stars...

Wilson's Book World is the word's greatest book store, it has the very best comic book store in Saint Petersburg and south Pinellas county, they have one of the largest selections of new comic books and their back issue comic books are just 1 dollar ,they also have the best selection of graphic novel comic books anywhere, they have a very large selection of children's books, fiction books, western book novels ,romance book novels, history books, sci fi book novels, college educational books ,they are by far the best book store in Tampa Bay, they have been around for 40 years in a great real American neighborhood, this store is located in real America, the neighborhood they are in is filled with mom and pop shops and diners, antique stores, a book store with a comic book shop in it, gas stations and beautiful working class homes ,it is a beautiful place, a very good place to see what real America looks like and feels like, this neighborhood is what America is all about ,this store is a great place for the whole family to visit, kids love it, teenagers love it and adults love it too, this place is great for parents to shop at and for kids to shop at too, this store has something for everyone. they get 5...

Several weeks ago I went St Pete visiting my family. Before I drove down from Athens, GA I called ahead to see if they could take a collection of nautical books, (marine engine repair, varnishing, hull repair navigational books, etc.) because there isn’t a market for such books here, I called Wilson’s Book World. Luke was very helpful and engaging. Great customer service! When I arrived, the owner, Ms Wilson was fantastic! As I needed to get on the road back to Georgia, she opened early. She took the time to go through several boxes of books and give me very fair prices for each book. In fact, I was extremely happy with her offer for my books! She was very friendly, and engaging. She is also very knowledgeable about all things ‘St Pete’. We discussed festivals, and the best restaurants and beach bars to go to. I now have a list of fun things to do and places to go next tome I’m in St Pete! All in all, my experience with Wilson’s Book World was fantastic!
