Uncle Don's Local Market — Local services in Saint Simons

I travel at least once a month to St.Simmons from Jupiter ,Fl and I’ve become a regular at their finest restaurants and shops and happened to be in the area looking for specialty wines for my wedding in July ! I went to this shop that had empty shelves and fruit ,vegetable baskets and as I walked in I saw a red hair lady that looked like perhaps the owner and a cashier talking .

They didn’t greet me or nothing and I went to their wine side which they seemed to be prepping for a wine tasting event? And I don’t know if perhaps dressing casual(ignorance is a bliss) on an island full of casual people ! Is a bad thing or they thought I was broke! lol . No one asked me if I needed it anything so I left to buy approximately 15k of wines somewhere else. Everyone I’ve encounter in St.Simmons at a retail level and such have been nothing but welcoming and professional except for this store and now I see why they always looked like they are going out...

I walked in after having this store recommended to me by DOZENS of people only for them to blatantly ignore me and another black woman I was with while we there there.

We say “HI” walking in and everyone ignores us. We said “BYE! Y’ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY!” and they still ignored us. Yet they could greet, speak to, help, and assist all of the “other” patrons.

When I went, they still had their lil 4th of July decorations up but couldn’t even acknowledge my presence being a NAVY VETERAN all because I’m a negro.

Nobody should shop...

Uncle Don’s is the VERY BEST place for fresh veggies, organic veggies, jellies, jams, baked goodies, chicken salad, pimento cheese,.....everything is wonderful .
