Northside Electric — Local services in Salem

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was overcharged and ripped off. DO NOT USE THEM. I called and asked for an estimate to have an electric car charger installed adjacent to my circuit breaker box. I was told it would take a single electrician less than two hours and that the GE circuit breakers and parts are standard equipment on their trucks. The invoice I received was more than double the estimate I was given. I was charged for two electricians (one was an apprentice) for three hours work, when they were in my garage less than 90 minutes. I called the office and asked about the invoice and was told I had to pay for their apprentice and that it took 90 minutes for them to gather parts and drive to my house. I feel completely ripped off and would not recommend Northside Electric due to their shady business practices. DO NOT USE THEM.

UPDATED REVIEW: After giving Northside a one star review and sending a certified letter, as required by the Construction Contractors Board (CCB) prior to filing a formal complaint with the CCB, I was contacted by Northside. They agreed that I was overcharged and reduced the bill to about 10% over the original estimate. I still feel like I was overcharged. I also think their billing practices are deceptive, so look at your invoice closely, verify the labor is accurate and buyer beware. I will not use Northside again, nor will I recommend them to friends or family, or anyone reading this review. But I do appreciate they were willing to reduce the bill (but only AFTER I COMPLAINED). So, I raised my original one star review to two stars as requested...

I am truly beyond words how great this company is! Chrystal was the go between and she coordinated everything beyond what I ever have experienced! The crews came out three times after I had a fire from a bathroom heater ceiling fan. I already had them scheduled to look at some breakers for the furnace but Polk County Fire Marshal asked that they come inspect the melted wiring and breaker box! It was determined a new fuse box needed to be installed and basically I was told we got you and they came in to finish the job that day to assure my disabled son and I had heat! The crew was wonderful and worked well together and very diligent in their work. Safety was apparent as conscious of the house and property Finances are available thank goodness Since I am single. I believe I would give ten stars and will always be dropping their company name every opportunity I can. Don’t hesitate to call I guarantee you will be satisfied! I was following a Northside Electric van today from Albany to Corvallis. You know the route -hwy 20. As we headed into Corvallis, before circle boulevard, the driver starts driving really really slowly - like under 30 in a 45 zone before almost stopping… to meet up with a minivan parked in the old Texaco station (currently an EPA cleanup site) for some reason.

They may do fine work at Northside, but they do not seem to have any idea how their driving might impact other drivers. I understand being a cautious driver, but this person was clearly headed somewhere they had no clue as to where it was. Seemed like the minivan was telling the driver “I’m eastbound on highway 20 on the side of the road just before Corvallis - come to a stop before you find me”

Seriously, pull over and figure it out. Don’t cause an accident because you are chasing tail. Who basically stops on a highway before getting off at a sketchy old gas station that has been listed s as an EPA cleanup site?
