New corporate policies are making it an awful experience to shop here. I’ve never had a worse experience in a Costco, and I once waited an hour for food court food at the San Fransisco Costco.
I’ve been shopping here for years. Now, instead of friendly/bored employees, it’s a million people screaming at you about the doors and which door you can and can’t use, and if there’s a line out the tiny door you have to go in for member services, no you cannot go in the giant door! You should shove past the people in the line. Thats what the member services guy tells everyone, according to him. As if that’s supposed to be a solution?? Sorry, I’m not going to literally shove past a bunch of people in a line to return things just for the privilege of accessing member services, no matter if an employee tells me to shove or not. That’s not a solution to a stupid problem that Costco is manufacturing. Just let people use the literal doors to your store.
Why even bother having such a big entrance door when you need to wait in the world’s most annoying line to scan your membership? Because an employee looking at your Costco card isn’t good enough. They need to scan it, or anyone could shop at Costco! It’s not like they check your Costco card at check out or anything! Oh wait, yeah they do?? So why do they make it such a nightmare to get into the building? If it takes you a fraction of a second longer to scan your membership, don’t worry! Someone is standing right there, ready to yell at you that you need to hold it closer as if you’ve committed some horrible crime.
People in the food court mess up your order, but instead of fixing or even acknowledging it, they just give you a messed up order and only acknowledge that it’s messed up, and that they know, when you point it out. “Yeah, sorry, I messed it up.” So just hoping you don’t pay attention to what you ordered or know what it’s supposed to look like, I guess.
Everything is incredibly expensive now. $18 for a small bouquet of mashed up flowers? I’m good. Literally don’t know where the value in shopping here is anymore.
Turns out my membership is expired. Instead of renewing it, I just left. Buying one thing at the self checkout was not worth it, especially considering the amount of time I stood there trying to get helped while apparently the only employee on self check out scanned someone else’s items, entirely defeating the purpose of self checkout anyway. I cannot imagine why I would pay $65 a year for the privilege of shopping in a place that is so unfriendly, and that is actively putting policies in place to make everything less convenient and more annoying.
The priority is now ensuring that no one without a membership can get in the door. If it makes it an unshoppable, deeply unpleasant hellscape inside, that’s the price you have to pay, I guess.
Maybe I’ll finally check...

Yesterday I was there shopping I had just finished up grabbing everything I needed and was walking up toward the registers at 8:40 and I remembered that I forgot the coconut clusters and walked to get them on the way to the registers. They are on the isles right in front of the registers. As I was about a 10 feet away a costco employees asked where did I think I was going and that they are closed and I need to go to the registers right know. I was shocked at how rude and how derogatory her attitude was! I told her I was walking up to them now and was just going to grab the coconut clusters on the way and that they are right behind her. She said well they are closed and I need to leave.... Wow! (They stop letting people in at 8:30) I asked if she could get them because she refused to let me take one step forward. With attitude she grabbed a bag and gave them to me. I then went to the end of the isle to the registers and there where 5 lanes open all with 3-4 people waiting to be rung up. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes the cashier started to ring up my items then the same rude lady came over to put my items in the cart. I politely asked if I could have them put my items in boxes. She said that they only had small ones. Right after she said that another employee came over and said they had a big cart full of large boxes 5 registers over. Then the rude lady said to me if I want big boxes that I can get them myself and put my things in there myself because she wasn't going to go get them. Wow! Then she preceded to just gossip with the other employee who had walked up. To make things worse she just threw my items in the cart with no care and smashed fruit, eggs with heavy items.
I won't be going back to this location...
