Design Company Fabrics — Local services in Salt Lake City

This place is HUGE! They have a massive selection of fabrics if you are looking for drapery, upholstery, or anything outdoor. They have a smaller selection of fashion/apparel fabrics, but still more than I’ve seen at other places. I am looking more for apparel fabric, and out of all the places I have been in the Utah valley, they have the biggest selection. When it comes to fashion fabrics, whatever you are looking for, they will have it in a solid. There were also a good amount of stripe options in the knits. If you are looking for fashion forward prints or unique textures, this is not the place - Joanns or Harmony (in Provo) will have a better selection (but higher prices). They had a big table full of stretch knits, and another big table full of terry. Both tables were 8$ a yard for any of the fabrics, and the rolls were HUGE! Much better prices than anywhere else I’ve seen. Lots of linen options. Quite a few vinyls and leathers. But definitely mostly upholstery.

This place has a lot going on, so be ready to spend some time digging around. I found other knits/apparel fabrics in other parts of the store, so keep an eye out.

There was also a room with probably around a hundred fabrics on sale for 3-5$ a yard! If you are a beginner sewer looking for cheap fabric to learn with, that is an excellent place to look.

They have a no returns policy. I purchased $200 of (fabric almost 8 yards which was longer than many of the rolls they had on display). I called back the next morning no longer needing the fabric and they told me they could not take it back because it would be unfair to them potentially not being able to re-sale it now that they had cut a piece off of a slightly larger roll. They would not negotiate or work with me in any way. They stated that there was a sign at the entrance and on my receipt that said there were no returns when actually the receipt (that I don't receive until after I have purchased the product) says that all returns must be made with in 10 days and then below states that they not except returns on fabric, or anything...

This is a go to location for the largest supply of most any type of fabric you could be looking for. The upholstery and drapery options are vast. The last chance discount room is a treasure hunt sort of game at additional bargain prices. With stacks and stacks of knit fabric for clothing, outdoor fabrics for redoing your patio setting and a nice selection of decorative fabric for formal attire sewing construction, you could spend quite a bit of time just looking around. The staff are always willing to help out, but no one is pressing you into one thing or another.
