This was my second time there and the customer service was above and beyond both times. The first time my dad and I went there because he wanted to save his 10+ years old laptop, and everyone told him it would be cheaper and/or better to buy a new computer. Nobody listened to what HE wanted. But Altex did, and for way less than the price of a new laptop. The second time I was with my dad again. He liked the store so much he wanted to check if they had some hard to find audio adapters there. This place is big, and the amount of stuff they have on hand is amazing. Plus if they don't have it, they'll try to order it for you. The adapters he wanted right there in the clearly labeled audio adapters and cords section. This time it was me who needed the customer service. I had this obscure question regarding my computer, our modem/router, and a piece of equipment I wanted to use with both. Had no idea how to phrase it, but the rep picked up on what I was trying to say and got me the stuff I needed. Then he explained step-by-step what to do with it. Awesome place. Felt like I was in tech heaven when I was there. And they do military discounts, so that's a bonus.

Beware, they price gouge, almost as bad as an Ebay Scalper, selling items way way above MSRP. They also hold onto obsolete PC hardware that is years out of date and try to sell it at or above MSRP. Great place to buy a 5 year old GPU that's been sitting on the shelf, for 10x it's real value. Right now, 12/5/2020 they have an EVGA 3080 front page on website, more then 20% over MSRP 899$ for a 729$ product. They have the 5600x for more then 10% over MSRP as well. I expect this behavior from online scam companies, not brick and mortar. Try harder.

Well.. this place is really fluid. It changes with the changing technology. I am a Low Voltage tech. I'm telling you cat 6 (8pin) rj terminations have changed.. so have hand tools. This place is keeping up with all the new modifications and service equipment. I was just impressed. Go in..ask for the manager Jacob Wiese. He will make time to speak with you on anything in the store. Go.. go see the new changes

Ah, the classic tale of the mystical man and the magical desk! I must say, I've never encountered such an enchanting shopping experience before. So here goes my belated review:

I must admit, I have frequented this store on numerous occasions, but this time, I brought along a friend in pursuit of the legendary GPU. Little did I know, my adventure would take an unexpected detour to the realm of desks!

As my friend embarked on his GPU quest, I found myself drawn to the desk section, like a moth to a fluorescent office light. That's when it happened, folks. A mystical man, who stood at a staggering 5'11 (let's not quibble about that extra inch), materialized before my very eyes. It was as if he had descended from the heavens of ergonomic furniture to grace me with his wisdom.

He wove a tapestry of desk-related promises that would make Shakespeare himself blush. This desk, he claimed, would transform me into a productivity powerhouse. It would be the answer to all my cluttered prayers, he assured me. And the price? Well, it was nothing short of a bargain from the land of unicorns and leprechauns.

But here's where our story takes a twist, my dear readers. As I reached for my wallet, anticipating a transaction so smooth it would make a swan gliding across a serene lake look clumsy, reality struck. The price on the receipt was not the same as the mystical man's whispered promise. It was a shocking $10 more!

Undeterred, I fixed my gaze upon him, and a silent battle of wills ensued. Our eyes locked in a fierce showdown, and I resolved to maintain eye contact until justice was served. Was it a test of my determination? A secret rite of passage into the brotherhood of desk connoisseurs? Or perhaps just a surreal standoff between a man and his office dreams?

In the end, dear friends, I emerged victorious, having secured my mystical desk at the promised price. As I left the store, I couldn't help but wonder if that mystical man was, in fact, the spirit of the desk itself, testing my commitment to ergonomic excellence. Whatever the case may be, I now sit at my magical desk, typing this review with newfound vigor, and a twinkle of...

I am a log time shopper of your stores in San Antonio area, but no longer. I recently had the "pleasure" of visiting your store off of 11342 IH35 N San Antonio, TX. I went in looking for an older product that I did not think you would have but decided to try anyways. To my delight the people in the front of the store were very helpful and while the product I was looking for was not on the shelf, they decided to look in the back for what I needed. Again to my delight, they found what I was looking for, but needed to determine the price. They were willing to give it to me at a little above cost, but doing some research online, I knew that similar products were going for much less. I asked if a $10 adjustment could be made, not much I mind you, which is when the inventory manager from the back decided to confront me about the product. In a very abrupt rude tone I was asked by this person "what's wrong you don't want the product, i just spent 30 minutes looking for this?" As a frequent shopper I was a little taken aback by this comment and the offending tone he was taking. After attempting to explain that I was not asking for much, he simply did not reply and turned around walking off with the product in hand. Needless to say I was a little upset at this point and to avoid making a scene I simply left the store and plan on never returning. I would never expect to be treated like this from any reputable retailer and probably would have purchased the product anyways, even if the price could not be moved. This was an unacceptable...

I've been shopping at Altex for many years and while product selection is decent, prices can be unpredictable.

Over the years the pricing has improved, it used to be most items were heavily overpriced, but in the last 5 years or so the pricing has approached being competitive with online retailers on many items.

The store carries a wide variety of items from the generic to name brand. Store departments include PC components, Network Devices, Networking supplies, and some basic electronic items and tools. The store does not carry electronic components (like resistors and capacitors).

If your looking for network supplies and not wanting to visit a wholesale warehouse this is the place to go. You can browse the isles yourself, and you don't need an account to purchase since this is a open to the public retail store.

Store employees are pretty helpful, able to answer most questions, with someone usually available to help. I see about a half dozen employees working on most my visits

Overall, pricing is decent, selection is good, and multiple locations offer some flexibility for purchasing & returns. I would recommend visiting this store before small PC shops since the exchange, and warranty process here has proved to...
