So I went to house of cards today an first an foremost savannah is very nice a little an a little snippy🤣yea she's seen it all before, but she found 5 of my vintage pokemon cards to her liking,an even though I was ready to sell everything I had besides my ancient mew holographic I was able to get $105 for those cards..fair enough! 🤓 one thing is for sure she's a pokemon fan,so if you come in an tell her you have sports cards she not interested. 🤷 problem was I came with what I atleast thought was my whole collection an would have liked to let it all go.. all the big name stars basically legends from basketball and football a few hockey Wayne greetzy baseball Reggie Jackson an basketball Kobe Bryant when I showed her some sports cards just because hey I wanted to unload it all,she didn't bat an eye not impressed at all,so then the nice gentle man roman tells me they do buy sports cards, but not very often, but after I said Iam writing a review on Google,an than I showed him my cards, also he's a little snippy also😆but,🤣🤷he explains that most my sports cards are based,an their looking for cards with 1-whatever plus a / so example 15/100 I'm still a little confused about the difference between 1 of an 1/40,but at first he wasn't interested, until I showed him my Kobe Bryant card again,an than he says yes actually that is it 🤷it happens, than he tells me I should get it graded 🤓roman your very honest an thanks, but I'm out the card business an just want money for my now adult life, long story short....I walked out with $600 for my Kobe Bryant card, but if you bring your sports cards to Savannah you won't get an offer, but she is very sweet 🧁sports cards go to Roman,an pokemon cards go to Savannah, but unless you have something special like me,you might wanna leave the sports cards home 😉I hope this helps...
Read moreEdit (8/20/21): I really appreciate you taking the time to address my review. That's great customer service right there. It shows that House of Cards really cares about their customers and listens to them. Definitely a 5-star place in my book, and a must visit for any card collector.
I like House of Cards for a lot of reasons, but I can't give it five stars entirely (stick with me and you'll find out why). First off, the staff are incredible. Friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. Any review that references a slight against the staff is simply untrue. They do truly have one of the best selection of single Pokemon cards available in the San Antonio area, possibly the state. The stock is always plentiful and decently priced. (The following is addressed in new edit) My only complaint is the reservation issue. Almost every product they release is a first come, first serve, which is admirable under most circumstances, but it becomes frustrating when you can't line up an hour or more before they open because of work, etc. You end up missing out on product because of that. If they would allow people to pre-order or request a hold on items that would have made it a five star review. The most recent example of this is the Evolving Skies Pre-Release. They do some very cool promotions though which should not be overlooked. Routine giveaways and their mystery bags are a couple that come to mind. A mystery bag has the potential to reward you with a ETB or other prize and regardless will leave you with some cool cards you probably didn't have before. Personally, my last one provided me with a Blaine's Chameleon which I never had before, and I've been collecting since the 90's. They are Definitely a must check out for the avid...
Read moreThis is by far the best card shop I’ve been to. My husband and I live in Chicago and we travel from time to time. My husband collects Pokémon cards and is always on the hunt to find a card shop in every city we visit. When we found this shop we were astonished. The owner Paul is very knowledgeable and is very friendly. His store was extremely organized and had Pokémon cards from base set to the current set that was out which was hidden fates at the time. He had other sports card as well.
My husband wanted to buy a card that Paul had in his store when we had visited but did not commit to buy it at the time. Once we got back home to Chicago my husband emailed Paul asking if he would sell the card and ship it to him from San Antonio to Chicago. Paul agreed instantly. Paul also advised that if we needed any other card he would try his best to locate and send to us.
This is the customer service that you dream of and my husband and I are glad that we found such a great shop with a great owner to back it up.
Come to the House of Cards for all of your card needs if you live near by or shoot him an email and he will get you whatever you desire.
Paul and his wife are amazing. Thank you guys for making us feel so welcomed in your shop and helping us compete our...
