I usually stay on the Holiday inn across the street (cheaper with great rooms), but that night there was not rooms available there, so I ended on this garbage so called “Hotel”.
There are so many wrongs on the room, but I will mention just some to give you a clear perspective of what you will find at La Quinta at this location.
First, this is a scam, since all the pictures of the hotel posted on several apps and web sites do not match with the actual rooms, they are far from true. Second scam, they post on Expedia a pet deposit of 25 dollars, but once you are there, they tell you that is a nonrefundable 40 dollars deposit, either you accept it, or leave.
What you need to understand is that this is not a hotel, is actually a motel located next to the highway. This “Hotel” is expected to be used as a “rest and go” place. I’m telling you this because usually after hours of driving I’m sure you just want to sleep, period, you don’t have the energy to look for every detail on the room at that moment. If that is your case, make your self a favor, get some energy, check your room before you settle.
During daylight the place looks just ok, but after dark the place seems unsecure. There are lots of people arguing and drinking outside, not sure if they were guests, so this is a red flag if you travel with your family.
Then, you little by little begin to see all the wrongs in the room, till you realized your mistake. This is a list of amazingly broken or damaged stuff only in my room (see pictures).
• The main door does not shut, I had to pushed hard to make it lock, the swing bar door was attached to the door with a few useless and loose screws, so you sleep with a eye on that door all night listening all the people drinking on the street.
• There was not cold water, yes, funny, because usually is the opposite, good luck taking a shower with boiling water.
• Lots of flies in the bathroom, it seems that the bathroom has not being cleaned for days.
• The door of the bathroom does not shut at all, so if you are in the toilette you need to hold it with your foot, it you are taking a shower… well, you give a show.
• Holes in the drywall everywhere, one was filled with toilet paper to disguise the issue.
• The large picture on the bed’s wall was hold by a screw that almost was falling, the glass on the same picture wash cracked. This is beyond aesthetic; this is a dangerous issue.
• There is a picture covered by wall paint, yes, the maintenance guy painted the wall with the picture there.
• Obviously, the room smelled like cigars.
• Towels were no longer white, they were gray, they look nasty.
• All doors are destroyed and extremely dirty.
• Do you need wifi? sure, good luck with that.
• Finally, the graffiti, yes, this is the first "hotel" with graffiti inside the bathroom.
Next day, obviously I talked with the manager, I ended very upset just because they justify themselves by telling you: “I you sleep there, you accepted the conditions of the room” and “didn’t you read the reviews before booking here?”. That second excuse make me stop my complaints and left the place. On my way out I had the opportunity to talk with other guests, all of them were very upset, there was one guest who did not sleep because the flies in his room.
By the way, they offered “hot breakfast”, well, they only have waffles.
So, yes, as the manager suggested, please read all the 1-star reviews. The pictures they show on the apps do not represent the property, well, they may have a few rooms like in their pictures, so, if you decided to stay, ask for one of those rooms. After you read the reviews, you will notice that they are aware of the condition of the property, but they do nothing, they do not care. You will find lots of very old complaints about the same problems over and over.
I always say, you get what you paid for, well I paid a total of 160 dollars for 1 night, including the nonrefundable 40 dollars deposit. So, for that price a night you can stay at river walk with no problem.
My suggestion is: stay away from...
Read moreDo NOT recommend this place at all what so ever. ONE: The keys to the rooms don't even work 90% of the time. I was there 3 days with 2 rooms and every day I had to go to the front desk for the key of one room or the other. Several times that I went to the front desk there was people complaining that there key wouldn't open the room, or that the staff had there key programmed to the wrong room. TWO: I had asked for 2 rooms combined and was not able to book the room numbers because you have to pay first. So when I arrived there I was given 2 rooms on two opposite ends of the hotel. I had a family of 8 and we had to split up due to "no rooms available". THREE: The swimming pool was disgusting and had green water (LITERALLY). FOUR: one of the rooms had no hot water and I told the front desk SPECIFICALLY "DO NOT HAVE CLEANING STAFF ENTER MY ROOM WHEN I AM NOT HERE" the receptionist answered "We do not offer those services, staff cleans your room after you check out" and what happens.. I'm gone the whole day and what a coincidence my water is fixed. FOUR: My sons go downstairs one morning to have breakfast and see there's a chair at the table, they only see it right to sit down and have breakfast when all of a sudden a rude lady (staff member) yells at them and says they can not sit there they have to take breakfast to their room and eat there. FIVE: Rooms had dirty towels and only one toilet paper roll. SIX: When I called to make my reservation I was told I could have 2 rooms combined with a total of 4 beds but had to check-in by 3 o'clock p.m to have the rooms together. Well in no day did I get my rooms fixed, I had to be on two different ends of the building from my kids and turns out the room I wanted was booked already but when I called in the first place they never gave me a particular room number so how was it that the other person had there spot guaranteed if they hadn't even got there yet. Over all the rooms were not really the problem... ITS THE STAFF that obviously have NO good customer service and have NO idea how to run a good business. At the end the last day we were there the room next door to my kids stayed open all night and all morning because whoever had "booked it" left it with the bed all messed up and the door open......Oh and last to mention we found chewed gum stuck on the side of the bed railing by the lamp where...
Read moreMy friend booked this motel through Priceline. I was immediately saddened when we pulled up in front of this dump. The picture she showed me on Priceline and this place are not the same. This is an old rundown motel with a multitude of issues. She checked us in, but we did not go in and inspect the room until after we returned from dinner. They gave us a room with one king-size bed, despite her booking a room with doubles. There was a smell and the bathroom was not clean in that room. So we went back to the front desk and the clerk tried to tell her that she had booked a king-size, despite her showing him the booking details. He then gave us a room on the 1st floor with double beds. We then went to this room and immediately a number of issues were noted such as the light switch by the door did not work and when turned on something in the room beeped. Had to go over by the bed to turn on the room light. There were wires hanging out the wall where a smoke detector should have been. There was not a working smoke detector in the room. The telephone by the bed was nasty and covered in filth. The bedding (sheets) were dirty and had yellow stains on both. There was roaches crawling about. The toilet had urine and fecal matter on the seat, which means the room was not cleaned. The shower head seemed to be falling apart. The door did not securely shut and you could see the light coming from outside under the door. The air unit was filthy and needed to be dusted. I took pictures to document. We immediately returned to the front desk and informed the clerk "Jinni" or however he spells his name that we were leaving and wanted a refund. He was not the one to initially check us in. He stated that he could not authorize a refund and that my friend would have to speak to the general manager in the morning. I went to my car, while my friend handled these details, as it was her credit card. I waited but didn't see my friend in the lobby area. She later came out stating that he was trying to find her a better room, she was welcome to stay but I wasn't. She stated that each room was equally bad or worse.
We left and found much better lodging down on the Riverwalk. My friend spoke with Priceline the next morning and they are to refund her...
