Because of what’s going on in the world currently and before I was even born is why I choose daily to stay at home and order online.
I just had a daughter last year, I’ve been wanting to get us something that matches. So I thought I might as well go to James Avery and get us matching earrings.
I usually go to the James Avery at the RIM. Never any problems there. Friendly and well taken care of. I so happen to live in Stone Oak now. I’ve been living over here since 2021 and I’m just now going to the JA over here.
Today I went in to this James Avery happy to get something for my daughter. As soon as I walk through the door, all the workers stopped what they were doing and just looked at me puzzled. I was not greeted, there were no smiles, and they didn’t give an urgency to assist me.
A lady did eventually come up to me and ask if I needed help I told her what I was looking for and she went on her way. I finally found what I was looking for and went to check out. As I was standing at the counter a caucasian family walked through the door and was greeted and helped immediately.
This frustrated me because I know racism is still very present. But all I wanted to do was get greeted and helped like a normal person and still have the excitement that I did prior to coming in. My experience at this JA today made me very uncomfortable. I will make my drive to the one at the RIM for now on. Might sound petty but how you treat somebody goes a long way....

I had an upsetting experience at this location specifically. After receiving both a text and an email confirming that my order was ready for pickup, I arrived at the store with the required valid ID and confirmation email, as specified.
Upon arrival, I was assisted by an older female employee, short and with blonde hair. I informed her that I was there to pick up my order and presented my confirmation email along with my ID. She noted that the address on my ID did not match the one associated with the order. I explained that I had recently moved and provided my current address verbally.
Despite this explanation, the employee insisted for an extended period that the address I provided was incorrect. This interaction lasted several minutes, during which I felt unjustly scrutinized. Eventually, she provided me with my order.
I have been a loyal customer of James Avery and have never encountered such an issue before. Given that I had all the necessary documentation and confirmations, I believe the prolonged questioning was unwarranted. I am concerned that I was treated differently due to the color of my skin.
I hope that the company will take steps to address this incident and provide additional training to employees to prevent similar occurrences...
Read moreEntering the store I was immediately greeted by Kathy! She was an absolute delight from the jump! I asked to be shown the necklace chains and she showed me what she had and I was also interested in the anklet chains as well. She walked me around the store and showed me each charm that I could put on the anklet chain. We then went back to the checkout and I told her I liked a chain that was originally for a necklace and she gave the idea of turning a necklace chain into an anklet chain. She then called over Gina, who is the store manager, to ask her advice on seeing if we could fit charms on the thin necklace chain that she suggested I turned into an anklet. Gina said yes and was even able to use the rest of the length of the chain to turn it into a bracelet too! Kathy even put the anklet on me too and Gina helped with bracelet. Super kind to say the least! I left absolutely happy! I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in the store and throughout my entire shopping experience. The women at this location were awesome and super helpful. Thank you again Kathy for...
