When you think of cute one off boutique’s in Del Mar, characteristics of having a friendly, knowledgeable staff that provide superior customer service come to mind while finding high end, one of a kind gifts that make you want to frequent the store often. This store is not one of them. I spent about 35-40 min in this store. Yvette at the time was very helpful and accommodating as one would hope when coming into a boutique like this. She was friendly and seemed to take a general interest in wanting to truly help me As I shared my hesitation of buying myself a nice pair of Kendra Scott earrings amongst others as my ears tend to have a reaction to coated metals and I was leary to spend $65 on something that may cause a reaction. Yvette gained my trust and convinced me they would be a great buy due to them being gold plated. She took the earrings and matching bracelet to the counter after pointing me in the direction of another designer that also showcased “gold plated.” Realizing she gained my trust she suggested I buy three items as saw this as a fantastic opportunity to up-sell me, as I liked many of their options and i would receive a free travel jewelry case (that was never recurved) when purchasing 3 items of that same designer. They were reasonably less than the Kendra Scott earrings so I decided to treat myself, checked out and thanked Yvette for her time again readdressing the excitement of maybe finding something that will work. I loved my new purchase that amounted to a whopping $300, plus it was a one time splurge on myself for the holiday. At no point of this entire interaction did she EVER disclose their Jewelry is ALL FINAL SALE nor are there any signs throughout the entire store. I completely had a reaction to all of the earrings and the 3 additional pairs she sold me were gold plated were not as the posts of the earrings were clearly nickel, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that from looking at them with the packaging. After making two attempts to bring these back, (I should’ve looked up the hrs) Yvettes friendly face was behind the counter with a frumpy, unprofessional, rude lady. I was happy to see Yvette as she sold me the items and would remember our whole interaction. I felt relief as IT would be quick in and out. Without even being able to complete my sentence explaining to Yvette that I had a reaction, the frumpy old lady cut me off mid sentence scolding me “all sales are final.” In much confusion I looked at Yvette for backup in disbelief. She just stood there in silence. Frumpy went on to tell me “I was lucky she was there and not the owner because she was providing me such a consideration of allowing me a “one time” exchange. My reaction was calm but I was for sure a little baffled as I didn’t understand what made her think I would want to exchange one item for another that would cause my ears discomfort and to bleed. Frustrated, I questioned the scenario and she went on to circling their return policy on my receipt. I then apologized, as I was not intending on making a return, however how was I to know that was the policy when it isn’t posted anywhere in their store and not having Yvette EVER disclose that to me??? You have to make a purchase first only to learn its final sale??!! Which came first the chicken or egg and how is this ok? At this point I asked for them to re-bag my original purchase (having still still not received my free gift as initially offered a week prior). Frumpy didn’t even offer an apology, show an ounce or empathy or show any consideration to me clearly looking like I got swindled by a used car salesmen. She didn’t offer to take my number to try to talk to the “horrible owner (clearly they respect and love who they work for) or even attempt to make it appear like she wanted to rectify my Horrible experience. so much for the happy holidays. I would suggest the owner find some new employees as this is what you have representing your dream of owning your own business? Where is the pride and integrity?
